My First Apartment Tips & Tricks

Many many moons ago I moved into my first apartment in Florida and was nervous about living on my own for the first time being 1,000+ miles away from friends and family. Some tips and tricks I would like to share about my experience:

1. Do a deep clean of the apartment/house: A lot of these apartment complexes lie that they hired people to come in and deep clean the carpets. It’s a quick cash grab on their part. The apartments are never clean when you move in.

2. If you live in a warm climate: my biggest suggestion to you is going to Amazon or Home Depot and buying these window tints for your windows. It does keep the house cooler and does lower your electricity bill a bit

3. Since I lived in Florida, we were prone to hurricanes and the power going out. These light bulbs turn into dimming flashlights if the power ever goes out and you need lights inside the apartment.

4. Always ground all your electronics: sometimes they’re power outages and you don’t want your expensive tv to blow out when the power comes back on

5. You don’t have to rush furnishing your apartment: how I did it is I focused on one room at a time (bedroom, bathroom and kitchen since I used that more frequently). Within time, you can get everything else.
