Tips for finding THE dress!
Shopping for the most important dress of your life is STRESSFUL! Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely LOVED my dress, but learn from my mistakes to make the process a lot easier!
1- Go to a few Bridal Shops before making your final decision! I thought I had found THE one at our first stop, but luckily my mom convinced me to continue shopping around! I ended up finding MY dress at our 4th shop!
2- Try the dress outside of your vision! I thought I wanted the big and poofy Cinderella type dress… until I tried the mermaid style! All of my Pinterest Boards and dress ideas went completely out of the window!
3- Big boobs do NOT belong in a strapless dress! This is my only regret with my dress. So many different bras, corsets, tapes, sewn in cups, you name it, I tried it 😭😭
The seamstress told me that she could make the proper adjustments so this would not be a problem. She was wrong lol. I never posted ANY of my bridal portraits because I was so self-conscious about the way my boobs looked in the dress. And those shots were not cheap!
So pretty please, prioritize comfort first!!
4- Bring honest, but supportive people with you! Leave those judgemental and negative people behind! I brought my mom, grandma, 2 best friends, and my sister in law. All of these people had my back and supported my vision, but also were not afraid to tell me absolutely no to dresses that were simply not me.
5-Speak up at your alterations! My alterations took a while because of the boob area like I’ve mentioned earlier. It got to a point to where I felt bad pointing out any other little flaw. My hip and waist area could have been taken in another 2 or 3 inches, and it’s pretty obvious in some of the shots because it’s bulging and just does not fit correctly 😭
6- Stick to your budget! Do not even look at dresses out of your budget! Weddings in general are expensive and wedding dresses are a huge part of that! Keep in mind, you will wear this for half of a day. Yes you should love it, yes you should be happy, but do not blow your budget on a dress!
7- Accessorize!
•My dress was great, but I was not sold on it until my consultant added a beaded belt!
•Match your jewelry with your dress, a lot of times, less is more! My dress was busy and blingy, and my hair draped around my neck, so I opted out of a necklace and went bigger with the earrings.
•Shoes! I hate heels, but my mom made me wear them for the ceremony (luckily I didn’t fall 😆)
For my Portraits and the reception, I had custom blinged out white converse 😍 I still have these bad boys sealed up on a box so that I can admire them whenever I want 😁
