This book was utter perfection, as always. @laurenrobertslibrary knows exactly how to twist your heart. I was crying from the prologue, and I was Shook at the end of the book. I expected something different for sure, but it was utterly beautiful. I also liked how the story timeline didn't stray too far into the future compared to the last book. I do wish Adena's lover was involved in this book, though (and at first I thought Kai was paying respect to Adena, but it was Ava the entire time 😭).
Kai and Paedyn truly know how to wiggle their way into your life so that you're rooting for them (while inwardly telling Kai off the entire time).
I honestly felt bad for Kitt. He idolized his father from the get go, whereas Kai was hateful of his father, but was loyal to Kitt (honestly I wouldn't have been).
Pretend.... OK Daddy Kai let's pretend together 😏😉 I loved that there wasn't a lot of "smut" in this book. I'm a fan of it, don't get me wrong, but this book is considered to be a YA novel so I expected little to none. I have to say... The slow burn, enemies to lover, one bed in the hotel tropes GOT ME. There wasn't a lot of cringe moments like other books. ALSO.... The SHACKLES???? 😭😭 That was good, too. Ugh. I loved it.
The ending though... I expected a cliff hanger for sure, but THAT????? I mean, Kitt knew Kai loves Pae, so I don't get why he would do that to him, unless he semswrd that Kai was happy of a certain death?? I'm not sure. But I didn't expect it. I expected her life to be on a sword, cliff hanger type.
I'm so freaking excited for the last book.. But I'm sad there's only going to be one more book 😭😭😭 I need more, more, more!!!!!
