Hollywood Week - Staff Appreciation Celebration
We wanted to bring back staff appreciation week since it has been 5 years since it was last celebrated. We decided on Hollywood Week and we rolled out the red carpet for our 300 employees. I decorated the lobby today!
🎬 - Monday - The Premier. Breakfast will be served and the opportunity to enter to win gifts and take pictures!
🍿- Tuesday - You’ve Got Mail. Every employee will receive a handwritten note.
🎥- Wednesday - We will send out movie themed games by email.
🏆- Thursday - Popcorn - We will deliver gourmet popcorn to every employee.
⭐️ - The Main Event - Lunch will be served and we will have movie trivia.
After years without a dedicated staff appreciation event, bringing back 'Hollywood Week' was a huge undertaking, but so incredibly rewarding! Seeing everyone's faces light up made all the effort worthwhile. If you're looking to host an unforgettable 'Lights, Camera, Appreciation' event, let me share some of the behind-the-scenes magic and practical tips I learned. First off, the visual impact of our 'Lights, Camera, Action' theme started right at the entrance. We designed a vibrant 'Lights, Camera, Action' bulletin board that instantly set the mood. I used a mix of bold black, red, and gold, incorporating clapperboards, film reels, and star cutouts. For an extra wow factor, we replicated the balloon arch I saw in an inspiration photo, complete with a red carpet leading up to it. This wasn't just decor; it was an experience! Many staff members paused to take photos, making it a truly interactive start to their day. Our 'staff appreciation wall' was another highlight, evolving into a full-blown 'Walk of Fame'. Instead of just a simple display, we personalized star-shaped cutouts for each employee, featuring their name and a small, positive attribute. It was incredibly touching to see everyone seek out their star. This simple yet impactful gesture created a lasting memory and a sense of individual recognition. We also scattered other Hollywood-themed props throughout the space, like the elegant Oscar-like trophy centerpieces and a vintage film projector, which added to the authentic movie set ambiance. Beyond the stunning decor, the daily schedule for our 'UICOMP VIP WEEK' was designed to ensure everyone felt valued. For 'The Premier' Monday, offering a delicious breakfast allowed employees to start their week feeling pampered. The handwritten notes on 'You've Got Mail' Tuesday were a huge hit – a small personal touch that goes a long way. I made sure to include specific examples of their contributions, not just generic thanks. Mid-week, our movie-themed games sent via email on Wednesday provided a fun, low-pressure break, while the gourmet popcorn delivery on 'Popcorn' Thursday was a delightful surprise that brought smiles to every desk. The 'Main Event' lunch and movie trivia on Friday were the perfect culmination. We kept the trivia fun and light, focusing on classic movie quotes and general knowledge, ensuring everyone could participate. If I were to do it again, I'd also consider adding a photo booth with fun props like oversized glasses, feather boas, and cowboy hats for some extra candid fun. Another idea is to have a dedicated spot for staff to leave 'fan mail' for their colleagues throughout the week, fostering peer appreciation. My biggest takeaway? It’s not just about spending a lot; it’s about thoughtful gestures and creating an immersive experience. Start planning early, delegate tasks where possible, and most importantly, make sure every element, from the 'Lights, Camera, Action' entrance to the 'staff appreciation wall', communicates genuine gratitude. Our Hollywood Week truly boosted morale and reminded everyone how much they are appreciated!
