Healing trauma 🫶

When you see your significant other and get mad at them do you ever wonder why you get mad at them? Do you ever think it’s because of your childhood trauma?

Sometimes when I get mad at my partner I tend to have to look in the mirror and ask myself why his actions bother me? Why this feels familiar? Instead of putting all the blame on him I think of why I got so defensive and how I can improve myself! My relationship helped me heal from my trauma and helps me become a better person everyday!

I believe that if you put in the work that’s what relationships do help you become the best version of yourself! I don’t believe you have to heal before getting into a relationship I think someone challenging us helps us see our true colors to be able to change!

Do you feel like you need to change and heal before finding love? Or will love help you become your best self?

... Read moreIt’s common to find ourselves reacting strongly to our partner’s actions, often without realizing that childhood trauma may be driving those feelings. Many people tend to gravitate towards partners who feel familiar to their past experiences, including unresolved trauma. This familiarity can trigger defensive responses, but with awareness, it can also open doors for healing. Contrary to popular belief that healing must happen before entering relationships, many therapists and relationship experts now recognize that relationships themselves can be powerful catalysts for personal growth. A loving partnership can help us confront difficult emotions and behavioral patterns rooted in our past, providing opportunities to better understand ourselves. When you notice anger or frustration towards your partner, asking yourself why these feelings arise can be a vital step toward self-awareness. Such reflection reveals how much of your reaction is influenced by earlier life experiences rather than current reality. Taking responsibility for this insight rather than assigning blame fosters healthier communication and emotional intimacy. Building a relationship with this mindset encourages mutual growth. Both partners learn patience and compassion while encouraging each other to overcome personal struggles, including trauma-related wounds. This journey demands conscious effort and resilience, but the result is not just healing from past pain; it’s evolving into a more authentic and compassionate person. Remember, no one’s perfect, and expecting yourself to be completely healed before loving someone might limit valuable growth experiences. Instead, embracing the challenges within a relationship can reveal your true colors and deepen your capacity for connection, ultimately promoting psychological and emotional healing. If you’re wondering whether love can help you become your best self, the answer often lies within your willingness to engage honestly with both your partner and your inner self. Relationships can reflect back parts of us we need to heal and show us the strength we might not have known we possess. Healing trauma through love is a gradual process that invites patience, courage, and self-compassion.
