Hey everyone! I'm thrilled to share a bit more about my fursona creation process, especially for Dexter, my beloved green mantis-bugsona. When I first embarked on creating a truly unique fursona, I knew I wanted to step outside the usual canine or feline archetypes. That's how I landed on the idea of a bug fursona – specifically, a praying mantis fursona! I thought, 'Why not explore the fascinating world of insects for inspiration?' Designing Dexter was such a blast. I wanted him to embody the elegance of a mantis furry while adding a quirky, almost otherworldly touch. That's where the 'alien' aspect came in, making him a true alien fursona. You can see hints of this in his accessories, like the black t-shirt with the golden UFO graphic or the one with the cartoon UFO, and even the tee featuring an alien head with 'IEVE' text. I love how these elements give him a distinct green alien furry vibe. His natural green fursona color just felt right for a mantis. I also drew him in a fun Ghostbusters t-shirt for some extra personality! When creating fursona art like Dexter's, I focus on specific details that bring out his personality. His large, expressive eyes and the subtle blushing really make him come alive. And let's not forget his fashion sense – those dark green bell-bottom pants and white shoes give him a retro-cool look.
