Anxiety is a Trust Issue

I can get anxious in my life when I’m out of control (which is all the time!). However, what in my mind is an issue of fighting anxiety is really an issue of fighting trust. Trust that the God who holds tomorrow in His hands loves me and is going to take care of me, no matter what comes my way. When I remember that and hand everything over to him, it brings me peace beyond my understanding.

6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6–7)

... Read moreFrom my personal experience, the feeling of anxiety often spikes when I feel like circumstances are slipping beyond my control. It's easy to spiral into worry, wondering if everything will turn out okay. What truly helped me was shifting my focus from trying to control outcomes to building a stronger trust in God’s plan. Trusting that God holds tomorrow and cares deeply for me has transformed the way I handle anxious moments. Prayer became a powerful tool in this journey. Philippians 4:6-7 reminded me to present my concerns to God with thanksgiving, which brought a profound sense of calm. Instead of fixating on what-ifs, offering my fears to God allowed me to experience peace beyond human understanding. This peace doesn’t mean my problems disappear immediately, but my perspective changes. Also, I realized that anxiety is often intertwined with fear of the unknown. By leaning on faith and recalling past moments when things worked out despite uncertainty, my trust strengthened. The act of consciously surrendering control to God invites peace and guards our minds and hearts. This process isn’t one-time; it is a continuous faith journey. For anyone struggling with anxiety, I encourage you to try this approach—acknowledge your worries, then intentionally hand them over to God in prayer. Trusting Him doesn’t remove challenges, but it empowers us to face them with resilience and hope. Through this trust, anxiety gradually loses its grip, replaced by a deep and lasting peace.
