When I got my nails done I decided to not celebrate the holiday with red or pink nails. So here are my UN-VALENTINES nails!
I dislike Valentine’s Day the most out of all holidays. Why is there a holiday to show your love for just ONE day? You should be showing love everyday! You should be treated to flowers and chocolates, on random days. You should be having dates out to dinner or to the movies, but it should be done all throughout the year. Your love and appreciation should be shown more than one day a year.
I am not bashing those who do celebrate this upcoming holiday. I myself, just choose to not. 💜🤍
... Read moreI totally get it! Valentine's Day can feel a bit... forced, sometimes. It's awesome to embrace the 'Un-Valentines' spirit, just like those gorgeous light pink/lavender nails with that perfect glitter accent you chose. Who needs traditional Valentine's red or pink when you can rock something unique that truly makes you feel good? For me, the whole point of celebrating love is to make it genuine and heartfelt, not just a date on the calendar.
If you're like me and prefer to show appreciation year-round, there are so many fun ways to make any day special without the V-Day pressure. Instead of waiting for February 14th, why not plan a spontaneous "just because" date night? It could be as simple as cooking a new recipe together at home, having a cozy movie marathon, or even exploring a new park. The beauty is, it doesn't have to be extravagant to be meaningful. I once surprised my partner with a picnic in our living room – it was so much more memorable than a crowded restaurant on V-Day!
And for those who are single or just not feeling the romantic love vibe, 'Un-Valentines' is the perfect excuse for some serious self-love! Think about treating yourself to a spa day, diving into a good book, or picking up a new hobby. Maybe it's finally getting that short, square-shaped manicure you've been eyeing, or trying out a new nail polish color that feels more 'you' than any holiday theme. It’s about celebrating you and your happiness. I recently dedicated an evening to just myself, face mask, my favorite show, and ordering takeout – pure bliss! It recharged me more than any grand gesture could.
I also love using this time to connect with my besties. Galentine's Day might be a thing, but why limit it to one day? A surprise coffee date, a fun group chat, or even organizing a potluck dinner with friends can fill your heart with joy. It's a reminder that love comes in so many forms – romantic, platonic, familial, and self-love. You could even bake some cookies for your neighbors or write a thank-you note to a colleague. These small, thoughtful gestures often mean the most.
Ultimately, the 'Un-Valentines' message is about authenticity. It's about showing love, kindness, and appreciation consistently, not just when societal norms dictate. So, whether you're sporting your own 'Un-Valentines' nails or just quietly boycotting the commercialism, remember that genuine connection and daily acts of love are what truly matter. Let's make every day a celebration of love, in our own unique way! It's about creating your own traditions and focusing on what truly resonates with you, rather than conforming to expectations.
