10/10 Read

I had trouble getting through the first book. It was just dark and scary. It ended on a cliff hanger, so of course, I had to read the second book. It was much darker, but the story line was great. Author did a GREAT job.

... Read moreWhen I first picked up 'Haunting Adeline' by H.D. Carlton, I honestly wasn't sure what I was getting into. The buzz around it was undeniable, but even then, I found myself hesitating through the first few chapters. It delves into some incredibly dark themes, exploring the psychological depths of its characters in a way that’s both unsettling and utterly captivating. I remember thinking, 'Can I really handle this?' But once I pushed past that initial discomfort, I found myself completely engrossed. The tension H.D. Carlton builds is masterfully done, making you feel the unease and the intensity right alongside the characters. It’s the kind of book that doesn’t just tell a story; it pulls you right into its world, making you a silent observer of every grim detail and every glimmer of hope. What truly hooked me was the cliffhanger at the end of the first book. I swear, I closed the last page and immediately felt that urgent need to know what happened next. It’s rare for a book to elicit such a strong, visceral reaction from me, but 'Haunting Adeline' managed it effortlessly. That’s why diving into 'Hunting Adeline' (the second book) was non-negotiable. And let me tell you, it somehow managed to be even darker, pushing boundaries and exploring themes with even greater audacity. Yet, despite the intense subject matter, the storyline itself is phenomenal. The author’s ability to weave such a complex, gripping narrative out of such challenging material is truly a testament to her skill, making her a USA Today Bestselling Author for a reason. She doesn't shy away from uncomfortable truths, which is incredibly rare and refreshing in its own way. For anyone searching for 'Haunting Adeline' reviews, especially wondering about the 'Rose' aspect – while I won't spoil specific plot points, I can tell you that the protagonist's journey is incredibly intense and often involves situations that push her to her absolute limits. The themes of obsession, survival, and the darker side of human nature are central, and they are explored with unflinching honesty. It’s a deep dive into trauma, resilience, and the twisted ways people connect. If you're sensitive to very dark romance or psychological thrillers with explicit content, this might not be for you. However, if you appreciate a story that doesn't shy away from discomfort, offers deep character exploration, and features a storyline that will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end, then this duology is a must-read. It’s not just a book; it’s an experience that stays with you long after you’ve turned the final page. My 10/10 rating isn't just for the plot, but for the sheer emotional impact and the unforgettable world H.D. Carlton created. It's a journey into the shadows, but one I found incredibly compelling and ultimately, a great story line that challenges your perceptions and leaves a lasting impression.

This book is really nice, easy to read, and super relatable It really puts my thoughts into words. It's so sad to be able to identify with so much but sometimes all you need is to see your feelings there, written and exposed so that you also understand how you feel a bit better than before
