Venice you are beautiful, but way too crowded + hot right now

One day is a perfect amount of time.

... Read moreHaving spent a day in Venice recently, I can definitely say that this city charms visitors with its unique canals, architecture, and atmosphere. However, it can get intensely crowded, especially during peak tourist seasons, which sometimes takes away from the serene beauty you might expect. One thing I learned is that choosing accommodation slightly away from the busiest areas made a big difference. For example, staying near San Benedetto offered a quieter retreat after long city explorations. I truly loved the hotel I stayed in—it was comfortable, peaceful, and gave me a chance to recharge away from throngs of tourists. This area felt more authentic and less commercialized, which enhanced my overall experience. Additionally, Venice can be quite hot in certain months, making daytime walks tiring. I would recommend planning your itinerary to include early morning and late afternoon strolls when temperatures are cooler and crowds thin out. Visiting key landmarks quickly and catching a gondola ride in the cooler parts of the day helped me enjoy the city more without overheating or feeling rushed. Ultimately, one day felt like just the right length for Venice during a busy and hot time. It allowed me to soak in the city's beauty, indulge in some quiet moments away from the crowds, and avoid burnout. For those visiting in the peak season, I suggest embracing this mindset—enjoy the highlights but also give yourself breaks, stay hydrated, and pick peaceful spots to unwind. Venice is breathtaking, and a thoughtful, well-paced visit is the best way to appreciate its wonder despite the challenges of heat and crowds.

1. Go during off-season 📆 Venice can be extremely nice to visit even in the off-season such as September-April! There still may be some tourists, but not nearly as many as there are during the summer. Venice can get chilly during the winter but never freezing so it’s nice to visit any time! 2
