Long suffering
Long suffering is indeed one of the most powerful traits that no one prays for, especially in rapidly changing industries like technology. Having personally experienced multiple waves of layoffs and job uncertainty, I’ve found that maintaining patience and resilience during difficult times can be a catalyst for growth rather than defeat. In the tech field, the challenge isn’t just surviving layoffs but also staying relevant. Developing new tech skills during these transitional periods has helped me pivot to new roles and opportunities. For example, after a layoff, focusing on enhancing my software development abilities and understanding emerging trends in software engineering allowed me to secure meaningful positions despite market challenges. Long suffering also means managing the emotional toll of job instability. It requires a mindset shift—from viewing these hardships as setbacks to treating them as stepping stones. This perspective enables tech professionals to keep learning, adapting, and ultimately thriving. It’s essential to engage with communities, attend webinars, contribute to open-source projects, or even mentor juniors to keep skills sharp.
