Don't do this
As an indie author myself, I get wanting to promote your books. But DO NOT go into the comments of another author's post where they are introducing themselves and talking about their own book, and promote your book in their comments. Unless they are specifically saying to share your books in the comments wanting to help boost fellow authors, do not do that in the comments.
And especially if it's someone who has made it very clear that they made everything themselves, cover art and illustrations, fully by hand. Do not promote a book of yours when you mostly use generative ai to promote it. I do not like or use generative ai. All art in my work is drawn by me. I write everything myself. I've taught myself how to format books. I do not want to see someone with an ai generated profile pic promoting their books in the comments of my own book. If you use gen ai to promote your books, for the covers, art, anything like that, I am going to assume the writing itself is ai as well.

When I see others using AI-generated images or covers to promote their books, particularly in the comments of authors who value handcrafted work, it can feel disrespectful to their effort and craft. This perception extends to making assumptions about the originality of the writing itself. If you do choose to use AI tools for your book's cover or art, transparency and choosing the right places to share your work are key. Instead of unsolicited promotion in comments, consider forums, social media groups, or dedicated promotion threads where fellow authors encourage sharing and boosting each other's books. Ultimately, building genuine connections and supporting one another fosters a more positive environment for indie authors. Sharing your writing journey, offering constructive feedback, or simply celebrating others' successes can open doors to meaningful collaboration and audience growth without risking being labeled as spammy or disrespectful. Remember, your reputation as an author is just as important as the book you publish.
