Easily one of my favorite reads so far
This is the first book in my reading goal this year that I'm not tracking with Pagebound. I want to have a few I don't track with the app so I don't start fully relying on it. So far I am absolutely loving this "Keeper of Enchanted Rooms". It's such a fun book, and the characters are even more fun to follow. As a writer myself, Merritt is often has moments where I'm like "I literally did that with my book when I was reworking this part". I want to jump in the book and just talk with him about writing. And I love that the house is as much of a character as everyone else.
I'm so glad I decided to pick this one up. It's been sitting on my nightstand for so long, I finally decided it was time to read it. Already almost half way through. I genuinely don't want to put it down. If it weren't for the fact I can't sit for hours reading(my body literally can't), I'd be reading it all day and night.
As someone who has also ventured into writing, I can truly relate to the experience of seeing a bit of yourself in a character like Merritt, who grapples with the challenges of crafting a story. This connection adds a special layer of enjoyment to reading 'Keeper of Enchanted Rooms,' making it more than just a fantasy novel—it becomes a mirror to the creative process. What sets this book apart is how the house itself is portrayed almost as a living character, enriching the story's atmosphere and engaging the reader's imagination in unique ways. Walking through enchanted rooms and feeling the magic woven into the very walls brings a vividness rarely found in typical fantasy settings. Reading this book without the aid of an app like Pagebound also reminded me of the pure joy of losing oneself in a story without external tracking or pressure. It’s refreshing to dive into a story purely for pleasure, especially when the narrative is as absorbing as this one. For anyone who loves fantasy or is interested in the interplay between a writer’s life and their fiction, 'Keeper of Enchanted Rooms' offers both escapism and inspiration. It’s a welcome reminder that great storytelling can connect us not only to fantastical worlds but also to our own creative journeys.
