the healthy and the disabled

... Read moreLiving alongside people with disabilities has profoundly changed my outlook on life and resilience. From personal observations and conversations, I have learned that the daily experiences of disabled individuals often involve navigating not just physical barriers but also social misunderstandings and preconceived notions about their abilities. One key insight I’ve gained is the power of attitude—how some people with disabilities exhibit impressive strength in overcoming obstacles, and how those labeled as 'healthy' can sometimes struggle more with mental or emotional challenges. This contrast highlights that health is multifaceted, extending beyond physical capabilities to include emotional and psychological well-being. Additionally, I've noticed the frequent presence of societal stigma and the impact of negative labels, such as the terms "complaining" or "shameless," which can unfairly color perceptions of disabled individuals. Challenging these stereotypes is critical to fostering inclusive communities where everyone can thrive. Embracing diversity in human experiences encourages us to "try" more and complain less, finding gratitude in what we have while advocating for equal opportunities and understanding for all. Life teaches us that disabilities do not define a person's worth or capability; rather, empathy and open-mindedness help bridge gaps between the healthy and the disabled, enriching our collective human experience.

We should be more patient with disabled ppl!
Before moving, my husband drove me to Goodwill with 8 big bags of my clothes. I asked the only worker there how it works. But he just handed me a form. I thought he didn’t hear what I asked, so I asked again only got a muffled mumble. Back in the car, I complained to my husband: “This job’s boring,
