... Read moreOkay, so I was looking for a new spot to try out Mexican food near Boston, and kept seeing 'Tulum Mexican Cuisine Somerville' pop up in my searches. I decided to check out this absolute hidden gem in Somerville, MA, and let me tell you, the vibes? Straight Tulum! If you're tired of the same old spots and craving something truly special, you need to pull up. From the moment you walk in, you'll feel that cozy, tropical energy. It's not a huge place, which I actually love because it makes the whole experience feel more intimate and authentic. It really transports you away from the usual Somerville hustle and bustle. The decor, the music – it all contributes to a fantastic ambiance that feels like a little getaway, perfect for a casual dinner with friends or a fun, vibrant lunch. It truly feels like walking into a little piece of Mexico right here in Massachusetts, making it a unique find in the Boston food scene. Now, onto the food! Of course, we had to get the birria tacos. Seriously, if you go to Tulum Mexican Cuisine, these are non-negotiable. They were incredibly juicy, perfectly cheesy, and absolutely bursting with flavor. The tortillas were soft, the meat tender, and the rich consommé for dipping made them even better – truly a standout dish that fulfilled all my birria taco cravings. I'm not exaggerating when I say they were a solid 10 out of 10. You just can't skip them! But don't stop there! The menu has so many options, you'll want to come back to try everything. Besides the incredible tacos, I noticed a wide variety of traditional Mexican dishes. For instance, the menu includes options similar to "OO DE CALLO" (perhaps a delicious ceviche or aguachile with scallops, showcasing their fresh seafood options) and classic sides like "RICE & BEAN" that are perfectly seasoned. Make sure to ask your server about their fresh "SALGAS" – their homemade salsas can truly elevate any Mexican meal, adding that extra kick and authentic taste. To drink, they have classic options like Mexican Coke, which just hits different with real cane sugar, and I also spotted Equis, a popular Mexican beer, which is a great pairing for the vibrant flavors of the cuisine. They really have everything you need for a complete and satisfying meal, making it an all-around great experience. Overall, I highly recommend Tulum Mexican Cuisine if you're in Somerville, Massachusetts, or live anywhere in the Boston area and are looking for authentic, flavorful Mexican food. It's a small spot, but the big flavors, friendly service, and warm, inviting atmosphere make it a truly memorable dining experience. This place is definitely worth seeking out; it's the kind of local restaurant you'll want to tell all your friends about. Don't miss out on this fantastic find!
