what i read in january !!

2/14 Edited to

... Read moreJanuary was a fantastic month for diving deep into some truly captivating reads that blend romance, fantasy, and a touch of horror. One standout book was TRIP, which captivated me with its unique mix of enemies-to-lovers romance and light horror elements involving sirens. The way the story balanced intense banter and dark themes without relying on shock value really resonated with me and kept me hooked throughout. I also appreciated Veins of the Drowning by Kalie Cassidy, which offered a slower pace with an emphasis on character development, romance, and plot rather than explicit scenes—something refreshing in today’s market. Though it ended on a cliffhanger, it built anticipation for the sequel out in July. Not all books hit the mark; I hit a DNF (Did Not Finish) with a horror-focused book which was a bit too intense for me given my current mental health. This reminded me how important it is to align reading choices with your personal comfort zones, especially around sensitive subjects like OCD compulsions portrayed in literature. Audiobooks also made a positive impact on my routine, especially with titles like 'Infortunate Lour,' which was perfect for multitasking and lifted my spirits with its cute, engaging plot. Lastly, Ali Hazelwood’s work continued to impress fans of romance with her second book in a werewolf romance series, recommended for fans of smutty, lighthearted stories with strong character chemistry. Overall, these varied genres and styles have not only entertained me but also broadened my appreciation for how diverse and rich contemporary romance and fantasy can be. For fellow readers, I recommend tailoring your reading list carefully and embracing audiobooks—they’re a fantastic way to keep engaged even when life gets busy.
