Honoring your mental health this season

Here are some cozy ideas for a holiday that takes some of the pressure off you!

The hustle and bustle gets really old really fast for me as a neurodivergent person. I make extra time for relaxing days around the house, otherwise I’ll burn out quickly.

One of my favorite traditions in our house is watching the polar express with our fav hot drink!

What’s your favorite holiday tradition?

... Read moreThe holiday season can often lead to stress and burnout, especially for neurodivergent individuals. It’s vital to create a balance that allows for relaxation amidst the hustle and bustle. One effective strategy is to plan cozy indoor days where you can enjoy activities that bring you joy without the overwhelming pressure of social obligations. Integrating calming routines, such as watching beloved holiday movies with comforting drinks, can enhance your emotional wellness. Additionally, embracing the idea of saying ‘no’ to activities that don’t serve your mental health is crucial. Remember, it’s perfectly acceptable to prioritize your well-being over social expectations. You can also explore local activities like attending winter markets or viewing festive decorations, which can be enjoyed at your own pace. Consider journaling or practicing mindfulness during this time to further support your mental health. Sharing your experiences and traditions with others who understand can foster a sense of community and reduce feelings of isolation. Ultimately, the goal is to create holiday memories that feel enriching rather than exhausting.
