Hey fellow Keyblade wielders! 👋 I wanted to expand a bit on what I shared previously about Aqua, Ventus, and Vanitas – especially thinking about the sheer emotional weight they all carry, and how that impacts our beloved 'Momqua.' When I first played Birth by Sleep, I immediately felt Aqua’s burden. She's not just a friend; she truly acts like a big sister or even a surrogate mother to Ventus. Her promise to Eraqus, to look after both Terra and Ven, shapes her entire journey. And honestly, she takes that promise to heart in a way that just breaks mine sometimes. Imagine being trapped in the Realm of Darkness for years, all while your dearest friends are suffering or out of reach. That's a heavy, heavy weight on anyone's soul. She's constantly battling despair, clinging to the hope of reuniting with her boys. Then there’s Ventus. Sweet, innocent Ven. His origin story itself is steeped in tragedy, being carved from a single heart. He's so vulnerable, and his connection to Vanitas adds layers of complexity. It's not just physical pain; it's the emotional turmoil of having a part of yourself, your darkness, manifest as a separate, malevolent entity. The fear he must have felt, the confusion, and then having to make the ultimate sacrifice to save his friends – that's a weight no one, especially not a young boy, should have to bear. Aqua sees this, feels this, and it doubles her determination to protect him. And Vanitas... oh, Vanitas. He's definitely the 'dark one' and, as I said, 'a handful' is an understatement! He represents the darkness within Ventus, but he's also a distinct entity with his own twisted agenda. His manipulation, his cruelty, and his relentless pursuit of the X-Blade put Aqua in impossible situations. She’s trying to save Ven, but that often means confronting Vanitas, who is intrinsically linked to him. How do you fight a part of someone you love without hurting them? This dilemma creates an incredible emotional struggle for Aqua. She loves both 'her boys' in a way, even the dark, difficult one, because he's a part of Ven. Navigating that complex relationship, understanding the darkness without succumbing to it, is a massive part of her journey's 'weight.' It's more than just game mechanics; it's the profound emotional journey these characters undertake. Aqua's love for Ventus, her unwavering hope, and the constant battle against despair in the face of Vanitas’s menace truly define the 'weight' of her story. It's why I connect so deeply with her character – she embodies selflessness and resilience against overwhelming odds. What do you think is the heaviest burden any of these characters carry, and how does it manifest for you as a player or viewer?
