2 Mile Run ✨

My first goal of the year has been completed! I wanted to run 2 miles straight before my birthday (which is in the middle of February) I guess this means that goal should be 2.5 or 3 now ☺️ #runninggirlera

If you’re also dreaming of completing your first 2-mile run, or even just getting back into running, let me share a few things I've learned that might help you on your own journey. First off, starting is often the hardest part. My biggest tip? Don't try to go from zero to two miles overnight. It's all about building up gradually. I found that a mix of walking and jogging worked wonders. For instance, you could try running for one minute, then walking for two minutes, and repeat that cycle for 20-30 minutes. Over time, you'll feel yourself wanting to run longer and walk less. Consistency is truly key here, even if it's just a few times a week. Finding your motivation is another game-changer. For me, knowing my birthday was approaching gave me a solid deadline, but it also helps to have smaller, personal reasons. Maybe it's for better health, clearer headspace, or just to enjoy the outdoors. Having a 'sweetest running buddy' like a dog, as I often do, can also make those morning runs so much more enjoyable and keep you accountable! There's nothing quite like sharing that gravel path with a happy companion. What you wear can also make a difference. I always make sure I’m comfortable, whether it’s my favorite athletic top or a bright pink cap to keep the sun out of my eyes. Good running shoes are non-negotiable! They protect your feet and make the experience much more pleasant. And don't underestimate the power of a good playlist to keep your energy up. Listen to your body! Some days you'll feel amazing, others less so. It’s okay to take a rest day or adjust your pace. The goal is progress, not perfection. And when you do hit that milestone, like finally running two miles straight, give yourself a huge thumbs-up! Celebrate every bit of your success, because each step is a victory. Now that I've conquered my 2-mile goal, I'm already eyeing 2.5 or even 3 miles next. Setting new, slightly bigger goals keeps the momentum going and the excitement alive. Remember, every runner started somewhere, and with a little dedication, you'll be amazed at what you can achieve. Happy running!
