Sweet Dakota passed away yesterday evening.
Don’t even know where to start.. 11 years ago we adopted Dakota and she changed my life. I held her in my arms when I first meet her and knew she was the one. Through every up and every down, through the light and the darkness, she was there. We explored so many new places, met so many new friends, and invited more family into our lives. Countless and unforgettable memories. Through the smiles and laughter, she had her wagging tail, through the tears and sadness, she gave her paw for comfort (our sign and reminder that petting her would make me feel better).
Many have told me that I gave her the best life I could have given her, I spoiled her (in a good way), loved on her, and was her world. While this is true, in my eyes, she was one of my reasons. She came into my life at the perfect moment. It was all a part of God’s plan. She gave me the light when I fell into darkness. As my sister told me, I needed her as much as she needed me. I am beyond blessed to have had her a part of my life.
As she left this world, Sean and I held her in our arms. She wouldn’t have left our side, we would never leave hers.
Until we meet again, my sweet Dakota bear. May your fields be covered in lots of snow, may there be plenty of lakes to swim in, fun hikes to explore, squirrels to chase, plenty of stuffies to unstuff and squeakers to squeak. May there be yummy treats, soccer balls to fetch, many tummy rubs, hugs and snuggles. May you catch all the snowflakes that fall, sniff out all the 4 leaf clovers, and made even more buddies.
