Skating with the church youth

Went skating with the youth at church. This was our first outing for the summer. Being a youth leader can be hard and challenging. Many questions they asked are difficult to answer and I myself is still growing as a Christian. I have to learn to always be honest with them. I always advise them to read their Bible and never be afraid to questions and ask the leaders. As the only way to grow is to be curious. God is so amazing and building a relationship with him is the way to go #Lemon8#christianwalk #christianwomenleaders#faithwalk#girlswalkingwithgod #lemondiary

Stepping onto that vibrant, patterned floor under the blacklight, seeing all the pairs of feet in roller skates, it was pure energy. You could feel the excitement building as everyone laced up. It wasn't just about gliding around; it was about the laughter filling the air, the encouraging cheers when someone stumbled, and those moments of holding hands as we navigated the red-lit floor together. These 'first summer outings' are more than just fun; they're essential youth church activities that build genuine fellowship. As a youth leader, these events are gold. They break down barriers that might exist in a more formal setting. Seeing two individuals holding hands, not just for balance but as a gesture of friendship, truly warmed my heart. We even had some fun in the locker area, with a group of young people, some sitting and some standing, just chatting and connecting under the cool blue lighting before hitting the rink again. It's in these relaxed environments that the deepest conversations often happen. For anyone planning a young peoples church fellowship skating party, I've learned a few things. First, embrace the chaos! Roller skating can be tricky, and falls are part of the fun. Encourage everyone to help each other up. Second, think about some icebreakers or games that can be played on skates, even simple follow-the-leader or team relays. This really gets everyone engaged. Third, don't underestimate the power of a good playlist to set the mood! And most importantly, create space for informal spiritual conversations. Away from the usual church building, questions about faith can feel more natural and less intimidating. I remember one youth asking me how I handle doubts, right there between songs. It was a perfect opportunity to share my own journey, emphasizing that growing in Christ isn't always smooth sailing, much like learning to skate! Just as we help each other find our balance on the rink, we lean on God and our community in our faith walk. These church youth activities are a powerful reminder that building a strong relationship with God often happens in unexpected, joyful moments, surrounded by people who lift you up. It's about building a community that walks (or skates!) alongside each other, always curious, always asking, and always growing.
