maybe when he retires LOLOL🤪
Being married to someone in the military brings a unique set of experiences and emotions that not everyone can relate to. One of the toughest parts is coping with the long periods when your spouse is deployed or away for training, which can often lead to feelings of loneliness and missing them deeply. I understand this well because my husband spends so much time away from home that I joke about "maybe when he retires" is when we'll truly be together. What helps me get through those times is finding humor in the situation, sharing jokes with other military spouses (#milso and #milsolife communities are great for this), and embracing the understanding that this sacrifice is part of a greater purpose. Despite the distance, the love remains strong, and I find myself constantly thinking, "I'm obsessed with my husband, aren't you?" even if we don't get to be together as much as we want. Retirement is a big milestone for many military couples because it promises more quality time and the end of frequent separations. Until then, building a strong support network, keeping up hobbies, and staying connected through video calls help keep the relationship vibrant. If you’re in a similar situation, take heart in knowing this challenge is temporary and shared by many. The resilience, humor, and love that military marriages develop during these tough times often make the relationship even stronger in the long run. Keep that hopeful spirit alive—better days and more moments together are ahead!
