The Best Day for Under $20 in Oahu, Hawaii

As a California native, I was slightly surprised at how expensive many things were on the island of O‘ahu.

However, it doesn't mean that you can't do it for less!

Here is how to spend a full day experiencing the beauty of O‘ahu for under $20 (not including food).

First must-visit location is Lanikai Beach. This has to be my hands down most favorite beach I've ever visited. The sand is powdery and soft. The water is calm and warm. I'd recommend stopping by Walmart or an ABC store to buy a donut float so you can sit out in the water and relax. You might even see turtles swimming near you!

The Byodo-In Temple is a change in scenery hidden within the mountains. General admission for adults is $5 for an unlimited amount of time. While the temple itself is beautiful, the landscape and wildlife will not leave you feeling bored.

The final location I'd stop by is the Halona Beach Cove to check out the Halona Blow Hole. You can truly feel the magic of this location because there is no other location on the island like it. If you go on a day where the surf is high, the water can shoot up to 30 feet!

With its affordable $5 admission, guests can explore the beautiful architecture and enjoy the sights of various wildlife, including exotic birds and fish. It's a great spot for photography and reflection. Lastly, Halona Beach Cove, home to the awe-inspiring Halona Blow Hole, is a natural wonder that captivates visitors with its dramatic geyser-like eruptions when ocean swells are high. This unique geological formation—crafted by ancient volcanic activity—offers a spectacular view and is one of Oahu's hidden gems. Elevating your travel experience, these locations not only deliver beauty but also instill a sense of adventure, making them must-visits on your Oahu itinerary.
