Must Need Apps As A Photographer

1. Camera Connect

- This app is specifically for my canon cameras (all I use) but there’s an app like this for every type of camera (i believe)! It bluetooths to your camera and allows you to get all your photos and even lets you take photos from your phone if you wanted to do a portrait session of yourself😁

2. Lightroom

- When I first got this app, I had no clue of what I was doing. It took me a few months to figure out everything and get my edits the way I envisioned them. I currently have the subscription that comes with Lightroom classic (computer) and Lightroom photoshop!

3. GuruShots

- This app is specifically for showing off your work! They have different type of challenges you can enter and if you win, you can win real money! It’s awesome and I would 100% check it out if I was you.

4. P.S Express

- This app kind of mimics Lightroom Photoshop but not exactly. You can do a lot of overlays and different edits with this app but I only use it for the sun-ray overlays.

5. We Transfer

- LOVE THIS APP SO MUCH I CAN PUT ALL THE PHOTOS FROM ONE SESSION AND SEND THEM THE LINK AND THEY DOWNLOAD IT, free too btw 😜

6. Behance

- This is a great app to put your portfolio on! I absolutely love it and it’s so good when people who don’t see my Facebook ask me for my portfolio.

7. SCRL

- Basically just an app to put so many photos within 10 slides for instagram. Instagram only allows you to put 10 photos but with SCRL you can fit a lot of photos in once!

8. LrP Presets

- If you’re into editing with Lightroom definitely get this app! It gives you “filters” and you can tweak them in Lightroom to make your photos pop just the way you want them!

9. Thumbtack Pro

- Besides Facebook, this is a great way to put your business out there. The only bad thing about this app, everytime someone messages you it charges your card. BUT I’ve gotten so much business and each person that books with me is a wedding. So the 20-50$ they take from me when someone messages me is worth it because I charge 450+ for weddings. 10/10 recommend!!❤️

... Read moreOkay, so I've shared my absolute must-have photography apps, but I know sometimes you need a deeper dive into what they're actually like to *use*. Especially when you're searching for specific "app interfaces" or "home screens," you want to know what to expect before you download. Let me tell you a bit more about my personal experience navigating some of these powerhouses, particularly on my iPhone and iPad. First up, Canon Camera Connect. This app truly is a game-changer for me, especially for tricky angles or self-portraits. The app icon is easily recognizable – typically the Canon logo with a Wi-Fi symbol. My experience with the iOS version is incredibly smooth. Connecting my Canon camera is usually just a few taps. Once connected, the interface cleanly displays options for image transfer and remote live view shooting. The remote shooting screen is intuitive; I can tap to focus, adjust settings like ISO and aperture right from my iPhone or *iPad*, and hit the shutter. It's like having a second screen for my camera, which is invaluable on set. Then there's GuruShots, fantastic for sparking creativity and getting your work seen. When you jump into the *GuruShots app interface*, you’re greeted with a vibrant home screen displaying ongoing challenges. Browsing themes like "Golden Hour" or "Street Photography" is easy. Submitting photos is straightforward – select from your gallery, add to the challenge, and see how your photos rank. I love the voting aspect; it’s engaging to see other photographers' work and get feedback on my own. It's a visual, community-driven platform to share your art, less about complex editing and more about interaction. Thumbtack Pro is another one where the app home screen is crucial for managing my business efficiently. The main dashboard immediately shows me new leads, client messages, and active projects, putting interactions front and center. I remember initially being wary about the 'pay-per-lead' model, but seeing the clear, organized layout of inquiries on the home screen helped me quickly assess if a lead was worth pursuing. My strategy is to respond promptly, and the app makes that easy with instant notifications. For wedding photographers, like myself, the return on investment often far outweighs the cost of the leads, making this a truly 'Pro' app for client acquisition. And let's talk about showcasing your best work with Behance. While I love my desktop portfolio, having the Behance app on my iPhone has been a lifesaver for impromptu client meetings or sharing my work on the go. The mobile interface is clean and visually driven, optimized for quick browsing. Uploading new projects directly from my phone is surprisingly fluid, and it automatically formats everything beautifully. It’s fantastic for ensuring my portfolio is always up-to-date and accessible, demonstrating my latest projects to potential clients right from my pocket. Finally, for quick edits, PS Express offers surprisingly robust tools. While it doesn't replace the full power of Lightroom, its interface for applying those sun-ray overlays is super simple and effective, adding a touch of magic in seconds. And speaking of Lightroom, editing on its mobile app is a joy; the sliders are responsive, and I can sync presets (like those from LrP Presets) instantly, getting consistent results even when I'm just using my phone. All these apps, clearly identified in the image, have distinct icons and user-friendly interfaces that truly streamline my workflow and help me grow.
