Must Have Apps for College Students
if you are anything like me, you researched a lot on what apps help make college easier and or what apps you should have. i definitely found some amazing apps & also some that i don’t think are worth taking up storage on your devices.
🩵 apps to have 🩵
STUDENT DISCOUNT APPS
🔆 Unidays
🔆 Student Beans
- if you’re going to shop, find the discounts!
ORGANIZATION APPS
🔆 Google Calendar
- love this & is my main calendar. i have everything in it, my class schedule, appointments, tasks, you name it and it’s in there.
🔆 Notion
- i love notion but it also can be quite inconvenient as well. i don’t like how it’s not automatic with getting rid of to-do list items once it’s done (unless im just stupid and haven’t figured it out yet) & it can be hard to learn how to use it. but i love using it for notes as well, especially for my accounting courses. it keeps everything organized together unlike docs!
HOMEWORK HELP APPS
🔆 Chegg
- we all know and love chegg, it can be a lifesaver with deadlines or understanding things you don’t know. getting a step-by-step process of how a problem is done helps so much when understanding things.
🔆 ChatGpt
- whether you love or hate ai, ai can be super helpful. i love it for planning out essays, understanding a topic better by asking more in-depth questions, creating a study schedule, and so much more! it really is super useful but don’t use it for your actual schoolwork, you’ll get caught eventually.
🔆 Quizlet
- we also all know and love quizlet. i love using it for flash cards & how they can be turned into so many different study materials like practice tests & game like study sessions. i also love how you can see others’ study sets!
🔆 Khan Academy
- i also love Khan Academy! as an accounting major, being able to watch videos of certain topics is great before exams & just getting a refresh on certain topics. it’s also useful when you have a professor who barely teaches & you end up having to teach yourself the material.
BREAK TIME APPS
🔆 Netflix
🔆 Disney+
🔆 & Other Streaming apps
- these are so good for downtime & letting your mind have a break from being overstimulated when studying or after a stressful day. but you must remember, these apps are rewards for finishing your schoolwork/priorities
🔆 Spotify
🔆 Apple Music
🔆 & other music apps
- so good to have a good study mix to listen to if you’re into listening to music while studying. they’re also good for listening to podcasts between or on the way to class. & amazing for jamming out on a friday night with friends. music is amazing!
🔆 Youtube
- youtube is such a great app! i love it for my break times but it’s also so good for studying too! on break times, i love watching documentaries or my favorite youtubers. when studying, i love the pomodoro timers, study with me videos, and lofi music! youtube is also good for studying, i love to call it youtube university 😂 so many times i have used videos to teach myself topics before an exam. for finals, my study group and i sat in a study room & just watched videos explaining accounting topics.
NOTE TAKING APPS
🔆 Goodnotes
- i’ve tried them all & this is my fav. you get a year free trial of premium & it’s amazing. love how customizable it is and so easy to use
🔆 Google Keep
- love this for to-do lists & quick notes!

Okay, so we all know college can be expensive, right? Textbooks, tuition, late-night snacks… it adds up fast! That’s why student discount apps like Unidays and Student Beans aren't just 'nice-to-haves,' they’re absolute game-changers. I wish someone had really walked me through how to use them effectively when I first started, so let me share my personal playbook! First up, Unidays. Signing up is super straightforward. All you need is your student email, and sometimes a quick verification of your student ID. Once you’re in, it’s like a treasure chest of deals. I've personally saved a ton on clothes from ASOS, beauty products, and even tech gadgets. My biggest win? Snagging a sweet discount on a new laptop accessory just when I thought I couldn't afford it. Don't just browse the homepage; really dig into categories that interest you. They often have flash sales or exclusive codes that pop up, so checking in regularly can pay off big time. My pro tip: if you’re planning a larger purchase, check Unidays first – you might be surprised by what you find! Then there’s Student Beans, which I use hand-in-hand with Unidays. While some brands overlap, Student Beans often has unique offers. I’ve found great food deals here, perfect for those days when the dining hall just isn't cutting it. Verification is similar – usually just a student email. What I love about Student Beans is their array of smaller, everyday discounts, like money off your coffee or a percentage off a subscription service. It's those little savings that really add up over a semester. I've even seen deals for local businesses sometimes, which is a nice touch. Now, let's talk about the Spotify student discount. This one is a no-brainer. Having ad-free music for studying, working out, or just chilling is essential for me. The process is usually linked through either Unidays or Student Beans for verification. You typically get a significant discount on your premium subscription, and sometimes even a bundle deal with other services like Hulu or Showtime, which is fantastic value. Just search for 'Spotify Student Discount' on Unidays or Student Beans, follow the steps, and enjoy your tunes without interruptions. Remember to re-verify your student status annually, as most student discounts require this. It’s a simple step that keeps the savings coming! Beyond these apps, always assume a student discount exists everywhere you shop. Many places don't advertise it but will offer one if you ask and show your student ID. From local movie theaters to museums and even some restaurants, it never hurts to ask! It's amazing how much you can save just by being a proactive student. These apps truly empower you to manage your finances better while in college, letting you enjoy student life without constantly worrying about your budget. So go ahead, download them, verify your status, and start saving smart!
