If you've ever wanted to generate infinite value and win games out of nowhere, you've come to the right place. I've been experimenting with some truly wild zombie synergies, and trust me, these combos are both terrifyingly effective and a blast to pull off. At the heart of many of these shenanigans is our little friend, Gravecrawler. This cheap 2/1 Zombie might not look like much, but its ability to return from the graveyard to the battlefield as long as you control another Zombie is pure gold. Pair it with a sacrifice outlet – and let me tell you, Ashnod's Altar is a personal favorite for its mana generation – and you've got an engine. You can sacrifice Gravecrawler, return it, sacrifice it again, creating infinite sacrifice triggers, infinite enter-the-battlefield triggers, and with Ashnod's Altar, infinite colorless mana! It's absolutely bonkers! Now, let's bring in Havengul Lich. This 4/4 Zombie Wizard takes things up a notch. Not only is it a Zombie itself (helping Gravecrawler), but its ability to cast creature cards from any graveyard by paying additional mana means you can bring back Gravecrawler even if you don't have another Zombie on the field, or if you need to reanimate something else crucial. The Lich makes your graveyard a second hand, and with infinite mana from the Gravecrawler-Altar combo, you can cast every creature from every graveyard. Talk about powerful! And for our 5-color zombie vision, who better than Morophon, the Boundless as our commander? This shapeshifter is a game-changer! Choosing 'Zombie' as its creature type means all your Zombie spells cost WUBRG less to cast, essentially making them free if they only cost those colors. Plus, it gives all your other Zombies +1/+1. It's the perfect glue for a diverse zombie army, letting you splash in the best zombie lords and combo pieces from every color. But what do you do with all that infinite mana and those endless triggers? This is where the 'war crimes' truly begin. I've been blown away by the payoffs: Infinite Damage: Just imagine having a Dreadhorde Butcher on the field. Each time Gravecrawler dies and is reanimated, the Butcher gets a +1/+1 counter. With infinite sacrifices, it becomes infinitely large, and when it eventually dies, it deals infinite damage to an opponent. Game over! Infinite Amass: Cards like Grim Initiate and Gleaming Overseer are fantastic here. Grim Initiate creates a 1/1 Zombie Army token when it dies. Sacrifice and reanimate it infinitely, and you've got an infinitely large Army. Gleaming Overseer creates a 1/1 Zombie Army when it enters the battlefield – another infinite amass source with the right setup! Infinite Exile: The often-overlooked Grixis Sojourners can be a surprisingly effective combo piece. Its cycling ability, coupled with ways to constantly reanimate it, can exile a huge chunk of your opponent's graveyard or deck, leading to a win. Infinite Life Gain & Mill: My personal favorite for grindy games is Mire Triton. Every time this Zombie Merfolk enters the battlefield, you mill two cards and gain two life. With infinite ETBs, you can mill out your opponents and gain an insurmountable amount of life. It’s incredibly satisfying! Building this deck requires a good mix of tutors to find your combo pieces, some interaction to protect them, and a solid 5-color mana base. It’s not just about slamming down zombies; it’s about crafting a machine that can suddenly turn the tide of any game.
