Learning to study the Bible!

... Read moreHey everyone! 👋 If you're anything like me, you've probably wanted to dive deeper into your Bible study but felt a little overwhelmed by where to start or how to keep everything organized. For the longest time, my notes were a jumbled mess, and honestly, it made studying feel like a chore. But I recently discovered a game-changer: creating cute and structured Bible notes! It's not just about aesthetics; it's about making the learning process more enjoyable and effective. My journey started with wanting to understand the flow of the Bible better. I’m a visual learner, so just reading wasn't cutting it. I needed a system that I could actually see and interact with. That’s when I decided to dedicate a section of my dotted notebook to mapping out the books of the Bible. The OCR mentioned a "colorful, handwritten list" and that's exactly what I built upon! First, I divided my page into two main sections: Old Testament and New Testament. Simple, right? But then, within those, I started categorizing! This was the real breakthrough for me. I used colorful pens to create clear headings for sections like Law, History, Poetry, Prophets, Gospels, Church, Letters, and Prophecy. Under each of these, I then listed the specific book names. For example, under 'Law' in the Old Testament, I have Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. For the New Testament 'Gospels,' it's Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. This handwritten approach not only looks lovely but also helps me internalize the structure as I write it out. Why does this work so well for me? Well, having a beautifully organized reference page means I can quickly jump to any book or section without flipping endlessly. It’s like having a visual table of contents I created myself. Plus, the act of making it colorful and handwritten turns study prep into a creative outlet. I use different colors for different categories or even themes within the books. Sometimes I’ll add little doodles or small, relevant symbols next to a book name. It makes my notes feel personal and inviting, which definitely motivates me to open my Bible more often. Beyond just listing books, this method has branched out into how I take notes during actual study. Now, when I’m reading a particular book, I'll have a dedicated page for it, referencing my main organizational chart. I use highlighters to mark key verses, sticky tabs to flag important insights, and even add tiny arrows or stars to connect themes across different books. The dotted paper is perfect for keeping my writing neat and for adding small sketches or bulleted lists. It’s amazing how much a little bit of aesthetic effort can transform your entire study experience. What started as a way to make my notes look "cute" has become an indispensable tool for deeper understanding and better retention. If you've been looking for a way to make your Bible study more engaging and less daunting, I highly recommend trying out this colorful, organized, and personal approach to note-taking. It’s truly made a difference in my journey of learning the Bible!
