After a call from the "Thai Elephant Reclaim Group" - the PM gave a green light to embark through diplomatic channels. "Sukhumi" prepared to lead a team of experts to visit Sri Lanka.

The Director General of the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Species revealed that it had been commissioned by Mr Suchan Chom, Vice-Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment to invite relevant departments to attend the meeting on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.

This meeting was organized because of the call of the "Thai Elephant Reclaim Group," which called for the government to expedite the monitoring of the status of two royal elephants: the supply of cliffs and the supply of Sri Nong, which the Thai government gave to the Sri Lankan government as a goodwill ambassador.

The deputy minister of natural and environmental finance, Mr Suchang Chomodor, posted a message via a private Facebook stating:

"I prepared a trip to Sri Lanka with the Under Secretary for Natural Resources and Environment and the Director General of the National Park Service, leading a team of medical experts to visit and check up both ropes of health, and talk to the local care team to monitor their well-being as a longtime friend.

The issue of "Pha Gate" and "Phi Srong" was on the minds of all Thais, so I discussed with the Prime Minister, and he agreed to start coordinating through official diplomatic channels to find the right way together.
