Are You Keeping God First In Your Plans?
Keep God first. #christianlemon8 #christianmotivation
I've been reflecting a lot lately on what it truly means to "keep God first" in our lives, especially when we're busy making plans and setting goals. Like many of you, I've always been taught the importance of working hard, creating a clear plan, and setting ambitious goals. But what I've learned through my own journey is that simply having an end goal in mind isn't enough. The real secret to a "sweeter" destination, as the saying goes, is integrating God into every step of that journey. It's easy to say "keep God first," but what does that actually look like in our daily lives and our grand ambitions? For me, it starts with understanding that God's order of priorities should become my own. Instead of just asking God to bless my plans, I've shifted to asking Him to reveal His plans for me. This means actively seeking His direction through prayer. Before starting any new project or setting a major life goal, I now dedicate time to pray, asking for clarity and for Him to tell me which direction I need to go in. It's about laying out my desires before Him and then honestly listening for His guidance, even if it challenges my initial thoughts. Another crucial aspect is grounding my goals in Scripture. When I think about achieving success or focusing on goals, God's word is our ultimate guide. For instance, if I'm aiming for success in my career, I'll search for bible verses on diligence, integrity, and serving others, rather than just chasing worldly metrics. This helps me ensure my goals are not just self-serving but align with biblical principles. It’s a bit like building a house – you need a firm foundation, and for our lives, that foundation is God's word. Sometimes, God may have a different path than the one we envisioned. I remember once I was so set on a particular career trajectory, convinced it was the goal for me. I worked tirelessly, but doors kept closing. It was frustrating, and I struggled to keep the faith in my efforts. It felt like I was hitting a brick wall. But through prayer and wise counsel, I realized God was gently nudging me onto a different path – one I hadn't even considered. It wasn't the way I wanted to go, but looking back, that alternative route led to opportunities and fulfillment far beyond what my original plan could have offered. It truly made the destination so much sweeter. Prioritizing spiritual practices is non-negotiable if we want to put God in the center of our lives. This isn't just about Sunday service; it's about making daily devotion, quiet time, and serving others as important as any work deadline or personal ambition. These are our spiritual goals in action. It could be dedicating 15 minutes each morning to reading the Bible, committing to a regular volunteering schedule, or even simply practicing gratitude throughout the day. These practices are how we cultivate a close relationship with God, allowing us to hear His voice and trust His leading, especially when the journey gets tough. Ultimately, true success, when God is first, isn't just about achieving our personal desires; it's about fulfilling His purpose for us. It’s about recognizing that our goals should contribute to His kingdom and bring glory to Him. So, if you're like me, juggling plans and aspirations, I encourage you to pause and ask yourself: Is God truly first in all of this? Because when He is, the outcomes are not just successful, they are blessed, purposeful, and infinitely more joyful.
