Do you realize how blessed you are?
God loves you!
You know, there are days when it feels like the world is just too much, and being kind to myself is the last thing on my mind. I used to think self-kindness was selfish, but my journey of faith has really taught me otherwise. It started with truly internalizing that simple, powerful truth: God loves you! It’s not just a saying; it’s a foundational belief that changed everything for me. I often look at the phrase 'TODAY IS A DAY TO THANK GOD' and it really resonates. Why? Because He woke you for a purpose. This isn't just about feeling grateful for another day; it's about acknowledging that your existence, your very breath, is intentional. When I remember that, it reframes my struggles. If God has a purpose for me, then beating myself up or constantly criticizing my flaws isn't honoring that purpose. Instead, it’s about nurturing the vessel He’s given me to fulfill it. It helped me realize that part of being a good steward of my life is actually being kind to myself. There have been countless times when 'IT MAY NOT ALWAYS SEEM LIKE YOUR FAVOR,' but I’ve learned TO REMEMBER THAT GOD IS ACTIVELY WORKING IT FOR BEHIND THE SCENES. This perspective is a game-changer for self-compassion. When things go wrong, or I mess up, instead of spiraling into self-blame, I try to recall that grander plan. It doesn't mean I ignore my mistakes, but it means I approach them with grace, knowing that even setbacks can be part of a larger story where GOD IS ALWAYS WORKING FOR YOU. This thought alone helps me forgive myself quicker and move forward with renewed strength, which is a huge part of being kind to myself. And then there's that incredible promise: 'NO WEAPON FORMED AGAINST YOU SHALL PROSPER.' This isn't just about external threats; it’s also about the internal battles we fight. The weapon of self-doubt, of harsh self-criticism, of feeling unworthy. When I remind myself of this divine protection, it empowers me to stand firm against those inner voices. It’s a powerful call to defend my spirit, to treat myself with the respect and love that God already showers upon me. We are called TO BRING GLORY, TO GLORIFY HIS NAME, and how can we do that if we’re constantly tearing ourselves down? Our goal, as the OCR beautifully puts it, is TO BE AS MUCH LIKE JESUS AS POSSIBLE. And what was Jesus? Full of grace, love, and compassion. If we are to SEE JESUS IN YOU, then that compassion must extend to ourselves too. He understood human frailties, and He extended boundless mercy. I know WE WILL FALL SHORT, FALL VERY SHORT sometimes, but AS LONG AS WE ARE TURNING TO GOD, HE WILL NEVER STOP GUIDING YOU. This means progress, not perfection. It means offering myself the same grace I’d offer a friend. It’s a daily practice of forgiveness and gentle redirection, knowing that His guidance is always there, helping me pick myself up and continue on my path with kindness.
