... Read moreWe've all been there, right? That feeling of waiting, of wanting something so badly, and it just feels like it's taking forever. I used to be the most impatient person, constantly stressing over timelines and feeling disheartened when things didn't unfold according to my plan. It was exhausting, and honestly, it stole a lot of my peace.
Then, I came across that profound truth: "God is never late, we're just impatient." It hit me differently one day. I was sitting, gazing at a beautiful white church, its tall steeple reaching towards the vast blue sky, a cross silhouetted against the clouds. In that moment of quiet reflection, it wasn't just a saying anymore; it became a deep understanding. It meant that every delay, every 'no,' every unexpected detour wasn't a mistake or a punishment, but an integral part of a much larger, perfect plan. It's about divine timing, a concept so much bigger than our limited human perspective.
I remember a time I was so set on a particular career path. I applied for countless jobs, got interview after interview, but nothing seemed to pan out. I was frustrated, questioning everything. Why wasn't it happening? Was I not good enough? But I held onto the belief that God was guiding me. Months later, a completely different opportunity presented itself – one I hadn't even considered – and it turned out to be everything I ever needed, and more. It provided growth, fulfillment, and experiences that the original path never would have. Looking back, if I had gotten what I wanted then, I would have missed out on something truly incredible. His timing truly was perfect.
Embracing this truth isn't always easy, especially when we're in the thick of uncertainty. But I've found a few things that help me cultivate patience and trust. Firstly, journaling my thoughts and fears helps me process emotions rather than letting them consume me. Secondly, practicing gratitude for what I do have, right now, shifts my focus from lack to abundance. Thirdly, and perhaps most importantly, is leaning into prayer and meditation. It’s about surrendering my timeline and trusting that the one who created the heavens and the earth, symbolized by that steeple reaching for the sky, truly knows what's best for me. It's not about being passive, but about doing your best and then letting go of the outcome, knowing it's in capable hands.
This journey of acknowledging that "God is never late, we're just impatient" has transformed my life. It has replaced anxiety with peace, frustration with faith, and doubt with an unwavering trust in divine wisdom. It's a daily practice, but the peace it brings is immeasurable. So, next time you feel that surge of impatience, take a deep breath and remind yourself: His timing is always perfect, and something beautiful is always unfolding, even if you can't see it yet.
Amen 🙏🏽
