As an acne prone girly I typically avoid oils on my face but my body eats this stuff up! I think we often invest so much time/money/energy into our skincare routine that it’s easy to overlook our body care.
But lemme tell you the second I started giving my body some extra TLC it’s like my ash and KP never existed!
I have an extensive body care routine now but here’s some of my favorite body oils that made all the difference:
1. Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Oil. This stuff is liquid gold ✨ I mix it with my body lotion and my skin instantly starts to glow. I go a little heavy with it in these cold month(especially on my elbows 🥴) but one bottle last me at least 4-5 months.
2. Bio Oil. Are we not all using this already? 🤔 Trust me it’s no magic cure for stretch marks(there’s no shame in them either) but using this oil consistently definitely makes them less prominent and noticeable!
3. Osea Undaria Algae Body Oil. I wasn’t too sure about this one when I first learned about it but she QUICKLY won me over. It’s hydrating, its hypoallergenic, AND it leaves the prettiest glow on the skin 😭🙌🏽 I prefer this during the day because it’s lightweight and doesn’t stain my clothes.
Lmk what you’re using this winter to stay hydrated!
... Read moreIt's so true, we often pour all our energy into facial skincare and forget our bodies deserve just as much love! I completely agree that once you start giving your body that extra TLC, the results are undeniable. Beyond just feeling hydrated, specific body oils can truly transform your skin's texture, making it smoother, more supple, and even helping with concerns like stretch marks. Let's dive a little deeper into how these amazing oils work and answer some common questions, like whether they're suitable for your face.
First up, let's talk about Cocoa Butter Oil and its incredible impact on skin texture. When I first discovered *Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula with Vitamin E*, I was amazed. It's not just about a temporary glow; it deeply nourishes and helps to smooth out rough patches, making your skin feel incredibly soft. I've found that regularly massaging this oil, especially on my elbows and knees, significantly reduces any scaliness or uneven texture. For maximum benefit, I love to apply it right after a shower when my skin is still slightly damp. This technique helps to lock in moisture, promoting that smooth, resilient feel. A generous application before bed also makes a huge difference for excellent "overnight hydration," leaving my skin baby-soft by morning. Mixing it with your favorite body lotion, as mentioned in the original post, creates a powerful hydration cocktail that truly elevates your skin's overall texture and appearance.
Then there's Bio-Oil, a true hero for stretch marks and improving skin appearance. Many of us have heard about it, but consistency is indeed the secret. While it's not a magic wand to erase stretch marks entirely, my personal experience confirms that it "helps improve the appearance of scars and stretch marks." Over time, with consistent daily use, I've noticed my stretch marks becoming much less noticeable, their texture softening and blending more seamlessly with the surrounding skin. It doesn't just lighten the discoloration; it actively works on the skin's surface to improve elasticity and smoothness. For any new or old scars, gently massaging Bio-Oil into the area can also help flatten and soften the scar tissue, making it less prominent. It’s definitely a long-term commitment, but the improvements in skin uniformity and texture are worth it.
Now, a very crucial question: Can you use body oils on your face? This is where I have to echo the original sentiment of caution, especially for those with acne-prone skin like mine. Generally, body oils are formulated with richer, heavier ingredients intended for the thicker skin on our bodies. Applying them to the delicate, often oilier skin of the face can lead to clogged pores, breakouts, and an uncomfortable greasy feeling. While an algae body oil like Osea is noted for its lightweight texture and suitability for "daytime use" on the body, I still recommend sticking to products specifically designed and tested for facial use. Your face deserves its own specialized care that won't compromise its balance. For facial hydration, look for non-comedogenic (non-pore-clogging) facial oils or serums that cater to your specific skin type. It’s all about giving each part of your body the right kind of love!
To really get the most out of any body oil, remember these tips. Always apply to clean, slightly damp skin to enhance absorption. Don't be afraid to mix and layer your oils with lotions or body butters for an extra boost of hydration and to create a custom blend for your skin's needs. Pay extra attention to drier areas like shins, elbows, and knees. And for that beautiful, instant glow from lightweight oils like Osea's, apply it just before getting dressed – it won't stain your clothes and leaves a gorgeous, subtle sheen for the day. Embracing a consistent body care routine with the right oils will not only make your skin look incredible but also feel incredibly nourished and smooth from head to toe.
