Unfiltered and imperfectly perfect! 🫶
I just want to talk about something! All over the internet I have been seeing posts and videos about becoming “THAT GIRL” or “STEPS TO GLOW UP BEFORE 2025”… followed by all these beautiful and aesthetic pictures of what that should look like. Nobody talks about the other very real side of glowing up. The part that isn’t pretty with flawless make up, perfect body, hair and nails done, eyebrows arched, etc.
I want to talk about the fact that glowing up is not always cute nor pretty when you are pulling yourself out of depression or trauma. There are levels to this! What one persons glow up looks like should not be compared to another’s but all should be applauded. This part of my Glow Up journey isn’t cute! It’s about being consistent and putting in the work. It’s about having a morning and night routine, eating the right foods for my body, taking care of my skin and drinking all the water.
I’m not at the glitz and glam part of my journey yet. I’m like Rocky whenever he is training to whip ass after he got beat up in the first fight! I’m preparing for the win and right now that’s where my energy is at and it’s amazing. I love having more energy, completing a workout, seeing my body change every week, etc. It’s just not cute!
This part of the glow up journey is the most important! It’s what gets you to the end. It’s not always cute but it feels great! I feel like this needs to be seen and appreciated more.

In today's world, social media often promotes an idealized version of self-improvement, portraying the journey of becoming 'That Girl' or achieving a perfect glow up. However, the truth is that many people experience struggles that aren't captured in aesthetic posts. Glowing up often involves tackling personal battles like mental health issues, self-doubt, or trauma. Acknowledging these challenges is vital for real transformation. It's essential to understand that each individual's glow up is unique. What might appear as consistent success for one person can feel daunting for another who is working through deeper emotional issues. Building a solid foundation—through routines, healthy eating, and prioritizing self-care—is critical and often requires perseverance and commitment. Importantly, sharing one's raw experiences can foster a sense of community and connection. Embracing vulnerability not only encourages others to open up about their struggles but also helps to destigmatize the messy realities behind personal growth. By speaking out, individuals can share tips on managing their challenges and inspire others to appreciate their authentic journeys, imperfections and all. Ultimately, the unfiltered side of glowing up deserves more visibility. Everyone should celebrate their progress, regardless of how perfect or imperfect it may appear. Real growth is not defined by a single moment of achievement; it’s about the continuous journey of becoming the best version of oneself while learning to love and accept imperfections along the way.
