竹富島にはバスやレンタカーがなく、主な移動手段は徒歩やレンタル自転車、水牛車、ホテルの送迎だけです。私も実際に島内をゆったり歩くことで、島の静かな時間の流れや自然の美しさに心が癒されました。 星のや竹富島の宿泊施設は、島の伝統的な赤瓦の家屋を忠実に再現した建物で、木材を多用した温かみのある内装がとても心地よいです。客室は広々としており、独立したバスルームにはモダンな設備が整っています。滞在中はまるで島の住民になったかのような気分を味わえます。 朝食は「島の九品朝食」「ゆし豆腐粥朝食」などの選べる4種類があり、どれも伝統に根ざしたアレンジが効いたメニューで満足度が高いです。特に重箱に詰められた島の食材を使った朝食は、見た目も味も素晴らしい体験でした。 夕食はダイニングか部屋食を選べ、私はゆっくり過ごしたかったので部屋食にしました。季節ごとに変わるメニューが豊富で、海ぶどうや揚げ物など地元の味が楽しめるのでおすすめです。 島の景観は「竹富島景観形成マニュアル」に従ったもので、赤瓦の家々や石積みの壁「ヒンプン」など独特の文化が色濃く残っています。夕暮れ時には小道に灯がともり、幻想的な雰囲気に包まれました 。 石垣島からフェリーで10分ほどとアクセスも良く、交通手段が限られているからこそ味わえる非日常のゆったりした時間が魅力の竹富島。次回はぜひ水牛車の観光も体験してみたいと思います。
