写真で伝わる通り、星のや竹富島は“赤瓦の集落に溶け込む感じ”がとにかく最高でした。敷地内の道も石垣が続いていて、ちょっと歩くだけで竹富島らしい風景（赤瓦×白砂×緑）が完成してるのが嬉しいポイント。ホテル内なのに観光してる気分になれて、朝夕の光で景色がガラッと変わるので、同じ場所でも何枚も撮りたくなります。もし「画像を見せて」で探している人は、赤瓦の家並み＋石垣の小道、夕暮れの灯りがつく時間帯の写真がいちばん“竹富島っぽさ”が出ると思います。 あと、竹富島の集落でよく見る「ヒンプン」。最初は何だろう？と思ったけど、玄関の正面に壁のように立っていて、外から家の中が見えにくい造りになっていました。魔除けの意味があると知ってから見ると、ただの景観じゃなくて暮らしの知恵なんだな…としみじみ。星のや竹富島でも、こういう伝統的な意匠がさりげなく取り入れられていて、宿泊中ずっと“島の生活にお邪魔している感覚”が続きました。 食事は検索でも多い「星のや竹富島 朝食」が個人的ハイライト。選べる4種は連泊すると楽しさが増します。私は重箱スタイルの「島の九品朝食」がいちばんテンション上がりました（小鉢が少しずつで、沖縄の味をつまんでいく感じ）。やさしい味が好きなら「ゆし豆腐粥朝食」もおすすめで、朝から胃がほっと落ち着きます。写真を撮るなら、窓から庭が見える席だと光がきれいに入って料理も映えます。 移動面は、竹富島はバスもコンビニもないので“事前に知っておくと安心”なポイントがいくつか。島内は徒歩かレンタル自転車が基本で、日差しが強い季節は帽子と飲み物があると快適でした。夕食をゆっくり楽しみたい人は、記事にもある通り部屋食を選ぶと時間に追われにくいです。 最後に、よく一緒に検索される「居酒屋竹乃子」は島の人気店なので、行くなら営業日や混雑具合を早めに確認しておくのが安心。私は“観光で食べ歩き”というより、赤瓦の集落風景を眺めながらのんびり過ごすのがいちばん贅沢だと感じました。
