Chaplains Honor Our Fallen
Chaplains and religious affairs specialists from across the Military District of Washington gathered May 22 at Chaplains Hill, where they honored the fallen buried in Section 2 of Arlington National Cemetery by placing flags at their gravesites prior to Memorial Day weekend, in a tradition known as “Flags In.”
Chaplain (Maj. Gen.) William Green Jr., U.S. Army chief of chaplains, placed the first flag at the headstone of Chaplain (Maj.) Charles Joseph Watters, who served in Vietnam and posthumously received the Medal of Honor for his selfless actions on Nov. 19, 1967.
It was an honor to participate in honor our fallen heroes. I read each name slowly and with respect as I laid the flags.
