What happens when a strange, dark short story becomes a full television series?
The Miniature Wife keeps the basic premise, then expands almost everything around it. The unnamed couple becomes Les and Lindy, new characters and subplots widen the story, and the tone shifts from absurd satire toward something more emotional and hopeful.
The biggest difference may be the ending. The original leaves plenty unresolved, while the adaptation chooses closure and character growth.
The show is much looser than the source material, but that does not automatically make it a bad adaptation. It just raises the real question:
Should an adaptation preserve the plot, or preserve the idea?
