3D2N Amsterdam Itinerary
Coming from Gare du Nord in Paris, arrived in Amsterdam, Centraal station via Eurostar!
🏠 Stayed at Tribe Amsterdam. (🚅 station: Noord).
Just 2 stops away from Centraal station and a short 5mins walk from Noord station to the hotel with a market place and groceries shop nearby. Arrived at lunch time but the room was already ready for check-in! Initial checking in time was supposed to be 3PM.
💵: $380 SGD for 2 nights
🛌: Superior queen room & sofa bed
💭: Bed was so so comfy, could sleep here the whole day even. The bathroom was so spacious & the whole room just felt so comfortable. Coffee corner with FREE coffee sachets with a coffee machine. The coffee sachets get refilled everyday! And I love the words on the mirror. Such a boost before stepping out of the hotel room!
🚇: There is a 1/2/3/4-day pass if you’re staying for a day or more. I got the 2-day pass so I paid $15.50 euros ($23.35 SGD) which gets me unlimited train or tram rides! It however doesn’t include buses. You can purchase the paper ticket via the kiosks at the metro stations.
Moving on to my itinerary:
Day 0:
📍Centraal station - lots to see and eat here!
📍Leidseplein - took a random tram and ended up here!
Day 1:
📍Albert Cuyp Market
🚆 De Pjip station (5mins walk to market)
🕰️ Mon-Sat, 9am-5pm
💭: a good place to buy souvenirs! lots of vintage shopping, foods and fresh fruits for sale.
📍Magna Plaza
🚆 Rokin station (8mins walk)
🕰️ Mon-Fri, 10-7pm/9pm
💭 found it pretty boring actually and pretty quiet 🤫 i saw reviews online that there were boutique shops but it happened to be under renovation 😾
Day 2:
📍Buiksloterweg
🚆 located at Centraal station, look out for the F3 ferry service area to Buiksloterweg. The ferry departs from Centraal > Buiksloterweg & vice versa, every 5mins!
💰FREE!
💭 The views are so beautiful. I came during the autumn season so the weather feels pretty chill to just sit by the riverside and relax. Cycling around the area is also a good option.
📍Canal Cruise
🚅 located at the Centraal area, just a 5-8mins walk.
💰$16 SGD for an hour’s boat ride on Agoda.
💭 Earpiece was given to all passengers so we’d be able to hear the boat guide speak to us about the history of each landmarks we pass. Lots of boat companies around but I chose the Lovers Canal Cruise since I got the ticket on Agoda. The boat is not an open view concept so it felt pretty sheltered to be sitting around with windowsills. Hard to snap photos too as the windowsills would be able to see the reflection of other people around you. Amsterdam’s pretty small and close by each other so don’t personally recommend taking this boat cruise unless if you’re taking the ones with the open concept.
Day 3:
📍Basilica of Saint Nicholas
🚶 A short 8-10mins walk from Centraal station
🕰️ 12:15-3:30PM.
💭 Was quite surprised to know that the church only opens in the afternoon and closes as early as 3.30pm! As i’ve visited other catholic churches around the world, but they do open the whole day as well.
📍Jordaan
🚶 a 5-8mins walk as the area is just behind the church along the canals, also a walking distance from the Centraal station.
Trip thoughts 💭
👍🏻: There isn’t much to do in Amsterdam so staying for 3 days is ample time to see everything even if you wish to go to the museums. There’s also the highly popular, Van Gogh Museum which I didn’t visit 🥹 The places are all easily accessible by the metro/trams, you can even walk to the next place down the metro line as it’s all a walking distance from each other.
👎🏻: This place reminds me of LA everywhere because in literally most places, it smells of weed. 🤢 also the cyclists scene here is crazy. there’s a dedicated lane for cyclists & sometimes it’s so hard to cross the roads because the cyclists tend to be unkind either so you rly have to just hurry & dash. :/
But Amsterdam is still a really nice place to visit especially if you’ve not been here before! :)
