Amsterdam in Spring = Straight Out of a Dream🌷💐

If there’s one place in all my travels that I truly didn’t want to leave… it’s Keukenhof in Amsterdam 💭

🌸 What is Keukenhof?

Also called the Garden of Europe, it’s one of the world’s largest flower gardens, open only from late March to early May every year. Think millions of tulips in full bloom - colors so bright and big, nothing like what we ever see in Singapore. And I’ve been to the tulip festival in Gardens by the Bay twice 😂 I was OOOH and AHHH-ing every step of the way! Super suaku but omg how come I never knew tulips are this huge!

🚍 How I got there

We were staying in downtown Amsterdam and I booked the tickets directly from the official site 👉 keukenhof.nl

They offer a super convenient Combiticket (round-trip bus + entrance) from Amsterdam RAI

💰 Price: Adults €37,00

The total journey took approx 1.5 hours? Includes queuing for the shuttle bus!

Ams central > RAI > Keukenhof

🚲Cycling through the tulip fields

Of course we rented bikes! Can’t remember the exact price (it was reasonable!) and they even give you maps with different routes depending on how adventurous you feel. The bikes were way too big for my petite Asian frame 🤏😂 but honestly, didn’t matter at all. We spent hours cycling through endless rows of tulips - it was pure magic! 🌈 Some fields are open to the public, but remember tourist etiquette: please don’t step on them and definitely don’t pluck them! 🙏 Be gentle - the flowers deserve love too. And no worries if you want to bring some home - there are plenty of shops selling fresh tulip bouquets at super affordable prices 🌷

Seriously… don’t miss this if you are in Amsterdam in Spring! It was the most beautiful place I’ve ever been. I waited till the last bus and kept walking back so I could enjoy being around the tulips longer 😂 Already dreaming about going back again🌷✨

... Read moreBeyond the stunning tulip fields at Keukenhof, you can enrich your trip by exploring some lesser-known flower-filled routes around Amsterdam. Renting a bike, as I did, offers the freedom to discover charming local flower farms and small villages adorned with blossoming fields that stretch as far as the eye can see. It’s a wonderful way to immerse yourself in the authentic Dutch spring experience away from the crowds. When planning your visit, consider weekday trips or early mornings to avoid long queues. The official website offers combined tickets including shuttle buses from Amsterdam RAI, which is efficient and affordable. Many visitors overlook the importance of proper footwear and sun protection when cycling or walking extensively in the gardens, so pack accordingly for maximum comfort. For flower enthusiasts, the garden shops are a treasure trove where you can pick up fresh tulip bouquets, bulbs, and souvenirs at reasonable prices. These blooms make for heartfelt gifts or personal keepsakes to remind you of the dazzling colors of the Netherlands' spring. Finally, remember to respect the gardens and fields by staying on paths and refraining from plucking flowers. This preserves the beauty for others to enjoy and supports the hard work of the florists and gardeners who maintain this natural wonder. Experiencing Keukenhof and Amsterdam’s spring tulip season is truly a dreamlike celebration of nature’s colors and is highly recommended for any travel lover.
