A foreign life.

(How long have you been in Thailand?)

"I've been in Thailand for a long time. I came in since I was about 12 years old. I was very young. I didn't know anything. I had to work until I was 31 years old. I haven't been home to Myanmar for a long time. Sometimes I miss you. But with many burdens, I still don't have a chance to get back.

(What are you currently working on? Do you have extra work?)

At first I came to work as a housekeeper. I also worked hard because I was young. I had to learn a lot of things at the same time. I changed to work in a fish pond. The work was also exhausting, but I had to do it because I had to raise my family. Now I don't have extra work, only one job. One day I was exhausted.

(What are the challenges of living in Thailand for you?)

The big challenge for us is to make money. Because we have to send children to school and send them to families in Myanmar, many relatives are still difficult, so we have to work hard to make them live a better life, at least for them to be educated, so that they do not have to be tired like us in the future. When thinking about you, it is very strong to be patient.

(What skills do you think are the most important? ✨ If in Thailand)

Thai. When coming to Thailand, the hardest thing is Thai. I can't understand. I can't speak. I have to talk quickly. I'm confused. I have to practice from work. From people around me, some people teach, some people speak slowly. But sometimes there are some people scolding because I don't know about it. But I try. Until now, when I know more, even though I'm not very good at it, I can work.

(Is there any story that you are impressed by in Thailand?)

The thing that impressed Thai people is that Thai people are kind. Very kind. I met people who helped us from the very first day in Thailand. There are some people who teach work, some encourage, some give advice when we do not know anything. It makes us feel that even though we are from abroad, but there are still people who listen and reach out to us. When thinking back, I am grateful. If not many Thai people helped, there would be nothing like this. "
