Located along Robertson Quay, Shabestan has been a well-known destination for authentic Persian cuisine since 2013.
•
Stepping through its doors immediately transports you into a rich and immersive setting inspired by the grandeur of a royal Persian court and the charm of Arabian Nights.
•
Lighting plays a huge role. Multi-tiered mosaic glass chandeliers illuminate the dining space, casting colourful reflections across the tables.
•
Private dining quarters feature a 21-seater room fitted with high-backed tufted crimson leather chairs, giving the space a timeless and luxurious atmosphere.
•
They prepare their famous dishes entirely from scratch using premium halal meats and imported spices such as saffron, sumac, and pomegranate molasses.
•
Since it was my first time experiencing Persian cuisine, I asked the staff to recommend authentic and less commonly seen dishes for us to try.
•
APPETISER PLATTER
Hummus, Muhammara, Homemade Cheese, Kashk-e-Bademjan, and Borani Esfanaj.
•
ISFAHAN MEAT PLATTER
A combination of chicken, beef, and lamb.
Chicken was very tender, while the lamb came without strong gamey notes. Served in both cube and kebab forms.
•
CHORMEH SABZI
Fresh lamb stew cooked with red beans, herbs, sun-dried lime, and vegetables. Paired especially well with the rice. Lamb cubes were tender and soft.
•
FESENJAN STEW DUCK
Caspian-style braised duck cooked in walnut and pomegranate sauce. Definitely one of the highlights. Although the dish looked savoury, it carried a noticeable sourness from the pomegranate sauce. Learned that Persian cuisine often incorporates sour notes into their dishes.
•
FALUDE SHIRAZI & PERSIAN SAFFRON ICE CREAM
Frozen vermicelli with zesty orange flavours, with mint, rose water, and sour cherry. Served together with homemade pistachio and saffron ice cream.
•
Sour dessert paired with vermicelli really changed my perception of the ingredient, as I’ve only had vermicelli served hot in savoury dishes before.

Awesome experience dining and learning more about Persian cuisine.Shabestan, Finest Persian Restaurant
Visiting Shabestan truly opened my eyes to the depth and richness of Persian cuisine. One thing that stood out was how the ambiance perfectly complements the flavors on the plate. The intricate mosaic glass chandeliers aren't just decorative; they create a warm, inviting atmosphere that makes every meal feel special. I especially appreciated the private dining rooms with plush crimson leather seats, which offered a cozy yet luxurious setting, ideal for savoring a meal with friends or family. The use of authentic ingredients like saffron, sumac, and pomegranate molasses brought unique layers to the dishes. For instance, the Fesenjan stew with braised duck in walnut and pomegranate sauce was a revelation — the balance of savory and subtle sourness was unlike anything I've tasted before. It showed me how Persian cuisine skillfully intertwines sour notes, making each bite exciting and palatable. Trying the appetizer platter was a perfect way to explore introductory flavors. The Muhammara with its deep, smoky taste paired beautifully with the creamy homemade cheese and the tangy Kashk-e-Bademjan. Moving to the Isfahan meat platter, the tenderness of the chicken and the mild flavor of the lamb kebabs were impressive, highlighting the restaurant's commitment to premium halal meats. Dessert was another highlight: the Falude Shirazi, a frozen vermicelli treat with orange zest, mint, rose water, and sour cherry, was both refreshing and surprising. Paired with the Persian saffron ice cream with pistachio, it provided a delicious end to the meal and changed my perspective on how versatile vermicelli can be in sweet dishes. Overall, the experience was not only about tasting but also about learning the cultural significance behind the ingredients and cooking methods. Shabestan offers a genuine peek into Persian culinary traditions, perfect for those seeking an extraordinary dining adventure beyond the usual flavors.
