imperfect marriage 🗣️ perfect Lord Jesus ✝️
our marriage isn’t perfect BUT we follow King Jesus who is perfect 👑
Matthew 19:4-6 ✝️ “Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’
5 and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’?
6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

It's easy to look at other couples and think their marriage is perfect, but truly, every union faces its own unique challenges. In my own journey, I've learned that having a 'Christ-centered' marriage isn't about avoiding arguments, but about how we handle them and how we continually turn back to God's word. The journey of marriage is a marathon, not a sprint, and having Jesus at the core makes all the difference. The passage from Matthew 19:4-6 is so foundational. When Jesus talks about 'one flesh,' it's more than just physical intimacy; it's about a spiritual, emotional, and relational unity. It means making decisions together, supporting each other's spiritual growth, and truly becoming a team in every aspect of life. This 'one flesh' concept is a profound mystery, calling us to a deeper level of commitment and sacrifice than we might naturally feel capable of. Many wonder about the 'biblical order of the family.' For me, it's not about one person having all the power, but about understanding the unique ways God designed us to complement each other. It's about mutual respect, sacrificial love, and both partners submitting to Christ as the head of the home. When we prioritize Jesus, our individual roles become clearer, guided by love and humility, and our family feels more secure and harmonious. It’s about building a partnership where both husband and wife flourish under God's loving authority. So, how do we live this out daily? For us, it means regular prayer together, even if it's just for five minutes in the morning or before bed. It means practicing forgiveness, because we will mess up and say or do things that hurt each other. It means actively serving each other, looking for ways to lighten the other's load, anticipating needs, and celebrating successes. These small acts, rooted in Christ, build a strong foundation, even when life throws curveballs and imperfections arise. I've found that embracing the truth that 'our marriage isn't perfect, it's Christ-centered' (just like the image says!) takes immense pressure off. We don't have to be perfect, because Jesus is. He fills in our gaps, gives us grace to extend to our spouse, and teaches us how to love better, even when it's hard. It's a continuous journey of learning and growing together in Him, always striving to reflect His love to each other and to the world. If you're a 'sis in Christ' reading this, I truly encourage you to find other like-minded women to share your journey with. Having that community and support makes all the difference when you're striving for a marriage that honors God. We're all in this together, leaning on His strength.
