Guasha is a great sculpting tool for temporary lift before a special event or photoshoot. However, there is no hand tool that is going to give you permanent lift and tone without electricity or invading the skin.
I feel the same about both ice rollers and jade rollers. They are great for soothing inflammation! Keep them in the freezer for an extra kick.
Beyond that, these tools are just a pretty addition to your cupboard. Make sure you clean and disinfect between each use to avoid causing breakouts. And make sure you’re not applying too much pressure or you can end up with bruising, capillary damage and damaged tissue which can lead to drooping.
From my personal experience, incorporating guasha and rollers into my skincare routine has been quite enlightening. While guasha provides a lovely temporary lift by displacing fluid in the face, it is important to understand that its effects are short-lived. Consistency matters—if you stop, your skin returns to its original state after a few weeks. I recommend seeing a professional or thoroughly learning the correct technique to avoid bruising or tissue damage, which can counterintuitively cause sagging over time. Jade and ice rollers, on the other hand, have been my go-to for calming redness and inflammation. I keep them chilled in the freezer, which adds a refreshing sensation and helps reduce puffiness, especially after a long day or if my skin feels irritated. They won’t sculpt or lift your face like guasha does, but their soothing properties are impressive, especially for sensitive or rosacea-prone skin. One key lesson I’ve learned is the crucial importance of hygiene. These tools are in close contact with facial skin, so cleaning them properly after each use with alcohol wipes or a disinfecting spray is a must to prevent breakouts and potential infections. Another caution is to use a gentle touch. Applying too much pressure while guasha or rolling can damage capillaries and tissues, leading to bruising or skin drooping instead of tightening. Gentle, consistent use with the right technique and maintenance can make these traditional tools a valuable part of your skincare ritual, providing temporary benefits that enhance your glow and soothe your skin effectively.
