... Read moreHey everyone! So glad you're checking out my Harmony & Horror fan art collection. It's been such a journey diving into this universe, and I wanted to share a bit more about the inspiration behind these pieces, especially my takes on Gloria Greywhinder. When I first encountered the series, Gloria's complex character really stood out to me. There's so much depth in her story, and I find myself constantly drawn to capturing her emotional range – from those moments of quiet despair to her more intense, distressed expressions, which you might notice in some of my sketches. I often think about her role alongside Martin and Arthur Greywhinder when I'm sketching, trying to convey the eerie atmosphere of their world. It’s not just about drawing a pretty face; it’s about delving into her psychological state and the subtle hints of the supernatural that define her.
One of the pieces here, for example, really focuses on that feeling of being trapped or haunted, reminiscent of the descriptions of "pale, distressed faces" that often appear in the series. It's a challenge to bring those subtle horror elements to life through a digital sketch, making sure every line contributes to the overall mood. I spend a lot of time on the eyes, trying to make them convey a story of their own. Sometimes I even imagine the three figures (two men and one woman) from the Greywhinder family in a scene, and how their interactions would shape Gloria's expressions.
Beyond Gloria, I also love exploring other facets of Harmony & Horror. Remember that "cartoonish, reddish-brown bear-like character with freckles"? Martin Greywhinder's transformation and his duality are fascinating, and I tried to capture a bit of that unsettling innocence in his design. It's a delicate balance to show both the cute and the creepy side. And then there are the more intimate moments, like the "person with dark curly hair sleeping, embracing a large, spotted, furry creature." These are my interpretations of the characters finding solace, even amidst the horror, adding a layer of bittersweet humanity to the fan art. It’s about finding those quiet, vulnerable moments within the chaos.
Creating these drawings on Lemon8 has been wonderful, as it's such a supportive community for artists. I usually start with a rough "digital sketch" to get the pose and emotion right, then gradually build up the details, focusing on shadows and highlights to enhance the mood. The purple backgrounds seen in some of my "collage of Harmony and Horror sketches" are deliberate, chosen to evoke that signature eerie yet vibrant aesthetic of the series. Sometimes, I'm just trying to capture a quick moment, like the "smiling man with glasses and a bow tie" – it’s fun to imagine these characters in different, unexpected scenarios, perhaps even a brief moment of normalcy before the horror ensues. I love seeing how other artists on Lemon8 approach fan art for their favorite series, too! It’s inspiring to see so many creative interpretations.
What are your favorite characters to draw from Harmony & Horror, and what aspects of their personalities do you try to capture? Or if you're new to the series, which one of my drawings intrigues you the most? Let me know in the comments! It’s always inspiring to connect with fellow fans and artists and see what resonates with you all.
