... Read moreSharing a sketchbook dump is one of my favorite ways to chronicle my artistic journey and connect with fellow creators! It's not about perfection; it's about showing the raw, unedited process, the ideas that spark, and the characters that come to life on paper. For anyone curious about what goes on behind the scenes, or looking for a little art inspiration, these pages are truly a personal record of my progress and imagination.
When it comes to creating original characters (OCs), my sketchbook becomes a world of its own. I love exploring different looks and personalities. For example, you might see character spreads with detailed information like age, pronouns, and even favorite colors, just like my Jacie character with her vibrant green hair in pigtails. Or perhaps an alien-like character such as Shaylin, with her long orange hair and green skin, shown in various poses – maybe even making a peace sign! It’s all about developing unique visual cues and a backstory. I try to include different expressions and specific features, whether it's curly hair for Sable or the distinct styles of Komori in both manga and chibi form. Adding these details really helps flesh out their world.
Beyond just OCs, my sketchbook is also a home for cool random sketches and cute doodles. Sometimes, inspiration strikes, and I just start drawing whatever comes to mind. It could be a close-up of an alien character's face, or a playful scene of two characters enjoying cotton candy. What makes a sketch 'cute' or 'cool' often comes down to personal taste, but I find that dynamic poses, unique outfits (like those with strawberry-patterned socks!), and expressive faces always add a special touch. It's exhilarating to see a blank page transform into something interesting, whether it's a quick inked outline or a more detailed piece.
For those who might feel intimidated by drawing, remember that every artist starts somewhere. The idea of an 'easy sketch drawing' isn't about skill level, but about the joy of putting pencil to paper. Don't be afraid to experiment with different styles; I often try both black and white sketches and fully colored pieces. Start with simple shapes, practice drawing eyes or hands, and don't worry about making everything perfect. The most important thing is to enjoy the process and let your creativity flow. Your sketchbook is your safe space to explore, make mistakes, and grow, building your own collection of inked and sketched memories. I hope my little dump encourages you to pick up your own sketchbook and start creating!
omg I love your art style so much
