I think it’s a good idea because it’s simple.(シンプルだから良い案だと思う) ■否定は「I don’t think ~」が自然 日本語の「〜だと思わない」をそのまま I think … not にすると、少し回りくどく聞こえることがあります。 おすすめ:I don’t think it’s possible.(無理だと思います) 丁寧にしたい:I don’t think it’s possible, but we can try another way.(難しいと思うけど別の方法を試せます) ■「変更案 英語」:proposal / revised plan / change 「変更案」は場面で言い分けが便利でした。 ・提案としての変更案:a proposal / a suggested change 例)I have a proposal for the schedule.(日程の提案があります) ・修正版(改訂版)の案:a revised plan / an updated plan 例)I think the revised plan is clearer.(修正版のほうが分かりやすいと思います) ・変更そのもの:a change 例)I think we need a small change.(小さな変更が必要だと思います) ■「〜するには…すぎる」:too … to / too much to よく出る形:too + 形容詞 + to + 動詞 例)It’s too expensive to buy.(買うには高すぎる) 例)He’s too busy to join.(参加するには忙しすぎる) 量が多すぎる:too much + 名詞 / too much to 例)I think it costs too much to fix.(直すには費用がかかりすぎると思います) ■「彼のです 英語」:his / his + 名詞 「彼の(もの)」だけなら:It’s his.(彼のです) 「彼の+名詞」なら:his idea / his notebook 例)I think his idea is great.(彼のアイデアはすごく良いと思います) ■「思い英語」:opinion / thought / feeling ・意見:opinion 例)In my opinion, it’s better.(私の意見では、そのほうが良い) ・考え:thought 例)My thoughts are similar.(私も同じように思います) ・気持ち:feeling 例)I have a bad feeling about it.(嫌な予感がします) ■「好ましい 英語」:preferable / desirable / ideal 少し硬め(ビジネス寄り):preferable / desirable 例)I think it’s preferable to start early.(早めに始めるほうが望ましいと思います) 日常なら:better / ideal 例)I think it’s better to call first.(先に電話したほうがいいと思う) 最後に、自分の意見を“やわらかく”したいときは、I think に加えて probably / maybe を足すのも使いやすかったです。 例)I think it’ll probably rain.(たぶん雨が降ると思います)
