BBDC DRIVING TEST TP NOTES

hey everyone,

I’m just gonna drop all my notes here in case someone find it useful ✨

when parking. look at the kurb at the side to make sure that the car is straight.

can wind down the window to look at the front and back to make sure that there is the same space in front and back

look at the side mirror to make sure that there is enough space on the left and right

for parallel parking, because i always go closer to the left curb, make sure to full lock left when the wheel at half of the black kurb , not when it’s on the full kurb. HENCE meaning delaying the turn

turn 3 to turn 38 must be turn right into turn 3 on the right lane and then sharp turn into turn 38. before turning left into turn 38

for the ramp slow speed control, the pole should be at my wheel.

then when going up to the pole and reversing back to the pole. press down the accelerator slowly until i feel there is enough speed

stop line must stop for at least 2 second

for turning point, once i can see the curb, can turn already. or at the car handle bar also can.

for narrow u turn, turn when shoulder is alight with curb. straighten the wheel after u turn when car is ALMOST straight not fully straight if not the car will sweve

let go of brake after turning, don’t go too slow

after finish outside road, park the car at the entrance of bbdc then test have ended

for start for test must report 20min before to the room 3 which is beside counter register 5 for warm up instructor

after warm up then go up to level 2 drop if and wait for tp tester

when vertical parking, after turning into the lot, once i think the car is okay. i can stop the car to make sure the car is alight with my right curb to make sure car is straight

then once confirm car is straight, check right and back blind spot then can reverse the car until 1.5 curb and park and pull up the handle bar.

when reserving straight in parking, make sure to check back one time first. before reversing back straight

turning out after parking

Vertical parking must delay turn till the car passes about 3/4 left front door before turning out. Car will turn wide so pls look out for other road users

Parallel parking you gotta inch forward a bit before reversing full lock left till the back right tyre close to the kerb. Once mirrors are adjusted change gear, full lock right till the left front tyre reaches about the centre of the lane before returning the wheel

General Tips for Circuit

- Take note of the area around Stop 41 (directional change) is is ONE-WAY, so when you turn you have to do a late turn (45 degree turn); Late turns - position your wheel halfway on the line then start turning full-lock

- Careful of chevrons and double white lines when turning! When doing tight turns to avoid them, go at slow speed and gently let go of the accelerator & turn full-lock once your door handle passes them

- Always stop at the stop line (wait for at least 2 seconds) - just break and stop first before doing any blind spot checks

- How to gauge car tires for crank/S course: 10cm to the right of the centre of dashboard is the left tire & 15cm from the right corner of dashboard will ensure enough space to go through

Vertical parking

- Start near the middle line - aim the cashcard/IU to the white middle line & ensure car is straight (look far and high up to gauge if car body is straight)

- Cheat code: Look for the mid crack-line on the road when you reverse back - once half of the back tire goes out the crack-line, immediately turn full-lock → this should give you sufficient safe to enter the parking lot

-When exiting after parking, ensure your body is past the curb then fully lock left to avoid hitting the curb

Parallel parking

There’s three main sighting points/steps: (1) Lock left, then (2) two turns return straight, then (3) lock right (two turns)

(1) Position car around 0.5m from ledge, ensure car is straight (again look far and high up to gauge if car body is straight) → adjust mirrors so that you can see the left back wheel + safety checks → reverse until the left back tire is at 1 curb length before the edge then fully lock left

(2) Reverse until you see the yellow curb fully at the back of your right side mirror & immediately straighten the wheel (two turns) → safety checks then reverse back until the back tire touches the white line

(3) Then fully lock right to enter the lot → reverse close to the back curb & straight the wheel → stop one curb before the back stopper → ensure car is straight

To go out, drive up a little until the side mirror covers the ledge → stop and then reverse & immediately fully lock left (do safety check on right blind spot & signal) → straight the wheel, adjust mirrors, and move out

Directional turn

- Position car in the middle (look high up and far); drive up close to the front curb until the side mirror is just above the horizontal ledge (or alternatively, until one’s shoulder is ~2.5 ledges from the vertical ledge on the right)

- Cheat code: When one’s shoulder is at ~2.5 vertical ledges on the right, immediately reverse & full-lock

- After completing turn & before leaving out to the left, make sure to turn full-lock when door handle passes the curb - if not you may hit the curb!

Corrections: just proceed back e.g. if you were originally reversing means you just drive forward and redo

General Tips for the Road

- Ensure you are using the rear mirror to check for vehicles behind (rely on the rear mirror more when trying to change lanes vs. using only the side mirror) - rear mirror gives you better vision and lessens one step (rear check + blind spot) so you’ll be less scared to change lanes

- On the road: tester will have to tell you to turn right. If they don’t say, remember it is always to continue straight (some roads have three “turn right”, so if there’s no “go straight” lane, stick to the left and turn left)

- Changing lanes: check the rear mirror is clear, then do your blind spot checks (make sure you turn your head to see the back seat window); if clear, then move slightly, steer gently parallel to the line and then look far ahead above the ground to avoid sharp turns

- Always look far ahead when driving (50m above the ground)

- Turning (e.g. turning right at junction): lightly accelerate then release accelerator, steer lightly, then only once you see your eventual lane, turn the steering wheel 3 o’clock, and then go straight & accelerate (don’t accelerate when turning or approaching a hazard)

- Bumps: 50m hump ahead there will be a sign on the road to tell you to slow down. Break lightly, once gear drops to a lower gear AND the coast is clear, lightly accelerate. - don’t keep stepping on accelerator, tester wants to see if your footwork is good such that you would use the lower gear & engine break to slow down

-Steering is always with your hands at 9’ & 3 o’clock. Relax with the steering wheel, let go and the steering wheel will return for you

Cars in course:

Directional change : 1 car (inside) + you wait inside the course but give enough space for driver to reverse into lot

Crank course: 1 car (inside) but you can go in if the car has reached the half way point

S course: 3 cars (inside)

+ if the car in front of you has hit the half way point you can proceed inside already

Circuit Slope: 2 cars (inside) + do not enter if there is a car on the uphill portion of the slope, just wait outside

Vertical parking: 1 car only + if you are waiting give enough space for the car inside to move out. (Do not wait in the way of the parked car going out)

Parallel parking: 1 car only + if you are waiting wait at the back but give enough space for the parked car to turn out.Bukit Batok Driving Centre Ltd

... Read moreWhen preparing for your BBDC driving test, it's crucial to familiarize yourself with the driving centre's layout and common test maneuvers. I found that reviewing the circuit map multiple times helped me anticipate each turn and stay calm during the test. Booking your appointment well in advance can reduce last-minute stress; Bukit Batok Driving Centre offers easy online scheduling, which I highly recommend using. On test day, arriving at least 20 minutes early allowed me to warm up with the instructor in Room 3 beside Counter Register 5, which helped settle my nerves. For parallel parking at BBDC, one tip that worked well was remembering to inch forward slightly before reversing with a full lock to the left when your back right tire is close to the curb. Adjusting mirrors carefully and checking blind spots consistently is vital throughout the process. Vertical parking can be tricky, but stopping briefly once your car seems aligned before reversing ensures straight parking. Watching your right curb and half of the back tire relative to the road's crack-lines makes a noticeable difference in accuracy. Controlling speed smoothly on ramps and sharp turns is important — learning to gently press the accelerator and use engine braking prevents stalling and shows control. General advice such as focusing your gaze far ahead (around 50 meters), using rear mirrors more than side mirrors for lane changes, and maintaining your steering hands at 9 and 3 o’clock helped me drive with confidence during the test. Lastly, the test environment includes other drivers sharing the course. Be patient and respect driving courtesy rules, waiting for cars to clear before proceeding in narrow segments like the crank, S course, and slope. Overall, consistent practice using these notes and learning the test circuit steps gave me the best chance to pass at BBDC without surprises. I hope these expanded insights help you feel prepared and confident when it’s your turn!
