Day 9 of IVF cycle

Today, I had my final office visit for the week. My follicles are continuing to grow nicely. Majority were 14-16mm range. Estrogen is over 3000 bc of the number of follicles. I’m definitely feeling it in the girls. I had a pretty light workday so I was able to get out for some shopping and exercise. Only three days left until my egg retrieval day!

... Read moreDay 9 of an IVF cycle is a critical point when many patients have undergone several days of stimulating hormone injections, often including medications such as follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) analogs. These stimulate the growth of multiple follicles in the ovaries, aiming to produce multiple mature eggs for retrieval. Ultrasound monitoring on day 9 usually focuses on the size and number of follicles, with 14-16mm being an encouraging range that suggests mature follicle development. High estrogen levels, such as those over 3000 pg/mL, are expected due to the number of developing follicles producing estradiol. These hormones often cause noticeable physical sensations or discomfort, commonly referred to as "feeling it in the girls," related to ovarian enlargement and hormonal fluctuation. Managing symptoms with light activity like shopping or gentle exercise is recommended, as heavy exertion might not be advisable. The timing of egg retrieval is typically scheduled when follicles reach optimal size, generally around 18-20mm, often within 2-3 days after day 9, aligning with this patient's mention of only three days left until retrieval. True PM injections referenced in the OCR likely relate to timed hormonal injections (such as hCG trigger shots) administered in the evening to induce final maturation of the eggs before retrieval. These injections and visits, including labs and ultrasounds, help track progress and optimize egg yield. For individuals undergoing IVF, supportive self-care, understanding body signals, and staying in close contact with fertility specialists are vital during this stage. Additionally, hashtags like #ivfjourney, #infertility, #eggfreezing, and #pcos indicate the shared community experiences and common conditions related to fertility treatment. Understanding the emotional and physical journey during day 9 can provide comfort and preparedness for upcoming procedures.
