Wormsloe State Historic Site
Wormsloe State Historic Site truly is a photographer's paradise, and I'm so excited to share some insights into capturing its magic, especially for those of you looking for the perfect shot! When I was planning my trip to Savannah, GA, I knew Wormsloe had to be on my list primarily for its iconic visual appeal, and it did not disappoint. One of the biggest draws, of course, is that magnificent mile-long avenue lined with over 400 live oak trees, dripping with Spanish moss. It creates an almost ethereal tunnel, especially during sunrise or sunset. I found that arriving just as the sun began to peek through the trees was absolutely magical. The soft, golden light filters through the moss, creating incredible shadows and highlights that are just perfect for dramatic photos. Not only is the light fantastic, but you also avoid the larger crowds that gather later in the day, giving you a more peaceful experience to set up your shots. Beyond the famous avenue, don't forget to explore the walking trails. They offer different perspectives and opportunities to capture the natural beauty of coastal Georgia. I managed to get some lovely shots of the marshlands and native plants, which added a nice variety to my photo collection. For composition, playing with leading lines on the main avenue is a must – the road itself draws your eye straight into the heart of the forest.
