easy non-toxic plant cleaner ✨

plants looking a lil drab and dusty? clean them up!!

plants breathe through the pores on their leaves, so any unnatural chemical can cause some real harm not only to the plant but to the environment around that the plant breathes into. SO i decided to concoct my own environmentally friendly cleaner that would spruce up my babies without any harm.

this all-natural solution removes dirt, dust, grime and other excess build-up safely and free of toxins.

blessings for the magic of 🍋 & vinegar ✨

... Read moreI totally agree with the idea of keeping our plant babies clean with natural ingredients! My go-to lemon and vinegar mix has worked wonders for my dusty leaves, just like the article shares. It’s so satisfying to see them shine without any harsh chemicals. But lately, I've been experimenting even more with natural cleaning methods around my plant space, and guess what? Baking soda is another unsung hero that often gets paired with lemon and vinegar for an ultimate cleaning powerhouse! You know how those messy leaves can get? While the lemon and vinegar spray is fantastic for general dust and shine, baking soda adds another dimension. It's a gentle abrasive that can tackle slightly tougher spots, and it's brilliant for neutralizing odors. I've personally found it super useful when cleaning terracotta pots that have developed a bit of mineral build-up or even a slight musty smell from old soil. A paste of baking soda and a little *water*, scrubbed with an old toothbrush, makes them look brand new! It’s incredible how effective these simple kitchen staples are, making my potted plants look their best. While it's generally best to stick to the lemon and vinegar for leaf cleaning to avoid residue, the combination of baking soda, *lemon juice*, and white vinegar is a dream team for so many other household cleaning tasks, especially around your plant setup! For example, if you have a dirty watering can or plant trays with hard water stains, a sprinkle of baking soda followed by a spray of diluted vinegar creates a fizzing action that helps break down those stubborn marks. I just let it sit for a few minutes, then scrub and rinse. It's so satisfying to see them sparkling again, and my measuring spoons are always at the ready for these mixtures! For a general all-purpose plant area cleaner (think shelves, windowsills where plants sit), I mix about a tablespoon of baking soda into a cup of warm water, then add a splash of white vinegar and a squeeze of *lemon juice*. I keep this in a small spray bottle (just like the article uses for the leaf cleaner!) and use a cloth for wiping surfaces. It leaves everything fresh and clean without any harsh chemical smells. Remember to always use measuring spoons for consistency, especially when trying new recipes – the right ratio, like accurate *measuring tablespoon vinegar water*, really makes a difference. Another tip I picked up for preventing mildew on soil (especially in humid environments) is to lightly dust the topsoil of non-edible plants with a tiny bit of baking soda. It can help absorb excess moisture and slightly alter the pH on the surface. Always do a patch test first, of course! And speaking of ingredients, ensuring you get the right amount of white vinegar in measuring spoon really matters for these DIY solutions. Too much of anything can be counterproductive! The beauty of these natural cleaning ingredients – *lemon juice*, *white vinegar*, and baking soda – is that they are so versatile and safe for our homes and the environment. They keep our living spaces, and especially our *potted plants*, happy and thriving. No need for expensive, chemical-laden products when nature provides such effective solutions. It's all about finding what works best for you and your green friends! So next time you're looking to spruce up your plant area, don't forget to consider adding baking soda to your natural cleaning arsenal. It complements the amazing lemon and vinegar cleaner perfectly, ensuring your entire plant haven is sparkling and healthy!
