Chinese are Koreans’ ancestors?

2025/12/8 Edited to

... Read moreMing Yuzhen's unique story offers a fascinating glimpse into the historical connections between China and Korea that many do not know. Ming Yuzhen was the founder of the short-lived Daxia Kingdom during the late Yuan to early Ming era. Despite his status as an emperor, he was reportedly the poorest in Chinese history, with his tomb containing only a golden rice bowl and a couple of silver ingots, which was quite unusual for royalty. The key link to Korean ancestry is through Ming Yuzhen's descendants. After the fall of the Daxia Kingdom, Ming Yuzhen's son and his family were exiled to Goryeo, the ancient Korean kingdom. There, his descendants married into local noble families, gradually establishing deep roots and expanding their lineage on the Korean Peninsula. This migration and assimilation explain why many Koreans today commemorate Ming Yuzhen annually at his mausoleum in Chongqing. This historical narrative often raises questions about the cultural and genetic influences shared between China and Korea. Ming Yuzhen's story exemplifies how cultural exchanges and political upheavals shaped the demographics and identities of East Asian peoples. Visiting the mausoleum yourself or reading about this period helps deepen understanding of how interconnected our histories can be. It's also interesting to consider how these shared ancestries play out in present-day cultural pride and heritage celebrations, especially for those Korean families who can trace back their lineage to Ming Yuzhen. For anyone intrigued by genealogy or East Asian history, Ming Yuzhen's tale is a compelling reminder of the unexpected ways our pasts intertwine across borders.

A Place That's Speak Family And Remembered
Let’s be honest—burial and niches are, in my words, two very different types of “after-death storage.” One comes with soil and solemnity, the other with tiles and non air-cond or air-conditioning. As a Chinese descendant, I grew up with the belief that burial was the gold standard—the ultimate feng
